| Guys, I'll just put a deposit on a Oly carbine in 45. Do any of you have experience with this cal in the AR? Or should I have gone with the 9mm? The dealer had both... Thanks BobK |
| BOBK48, Depends on what you are going to do with it and what you want. If you are going to shoot a little but use it mainly for home defense the I would stay with 45acp, but if you plan to shoot alot, and not concerned with this perticular gun for home defense, then I would choose 9mm. Ammo and a large collections of mags are going to be considerable less costly in 9mm. But then again, if you want the 45acp just because, then by all means. Good luck with either. |

A 9mm would be just fine for home defense. The Oly carbine will handle ANY +p++ load you give it, plus you would have 32 of them on tap for the bad guy. I chose the 9mm cause it's cheaper to shoot; consequently I'll get more practice with it. As far as self defense goes the 9mm will do the job. |

I have the .45 since almost everything else is .45 that I have. It's great fun, and easier to load then the Sten mags. (without a loader.) I might eventually get a 9mm also, just for the fun of it. Main disadvantage of the .45 is magazines. No cheap sten mags here, and Oly is out of the hi=caps. |

Quoted: I guess I'll stay with the 45. I see that dalphon has high cap mags on their website, not cheap. Thanks guys. BobK I got one of the Dalphon mags. Ugly as sin, but they work. I also bought a couple uzi 45 mags, and sent them to Oly for conversion, haven't heard anything yet. (Sent a couple weeks back, figured I'd wait a full month before nagging.) |

There is nothing wrong with the OA PCR in 45 ACP. Especially if you have other 45 acp guns like 1911s, Glock 21s, sig P-220s, HK USPs, and the like. And if you reload, you can still shoot a box of 45 ACP for less than $5. I have a PCR-9 in 9mm because I have several 9mm handguns so it was a natural fit. And I reload tons of calibers so cost is a non-issue. The guys with the Mech Tech CCU's in 45 ACP sure love them. And at 25 and 50 yards, all of the pistol caliber Olys are fun to shoot. I sometimes wonder if I should have gone with a 10mm Oly since I have a couple of 10mm handguns and could use my Oly 10mm for whitetail and hog too! Of well! |

I got one of the Dalphon mags. Ugly as sin, but they work. Can you tell me more about the diffrence between the Dalphon mags and the Oly mags? The Oly mags have front to back "slop" that changes the feed angle and causes jams. I'm using a Oly lower as well. I also bought a couple uzi 45 mags, and sent them to Oly for conversion, haven't heard anything yet. (Sent a couple weeks back, figured I'd wait a full month before nagging.) Same here. I sent off three Uzi hicaps to Oly a long time ago. I called after a month and was told that it would be another month. They don't do runs very often. |

Quoted: Quoted: Can you tell me more about the diffrence between the Dalphon mags and the Oly mags? Dalphon sells Oly's stuff. HTH Negative Batman. Dalphon makes their own mags using modified Grease gun mags. Oly makes thiers using modified UZI mags. Pistol caliber uppers are Oly brand, with some slight mods. My question is specifically about the mags. |
