Been thinking about how to make this work in an HK trigger pack. I keep coming back to the ejector.  Since the ejector moves up and down with the bolt, I wonder of the design uses that motion as part of the trigger reset. That would also eliminate the need for a full auto carrier.

The ejector doesn't trip or reset the ARHK the ARHK ejector is standard HK. ARHK is using a new trip that hasn't been seen anywhere else and that will be used in many more platforms due to the fact it doesn't require anything on the bolt carrier to grab onto, its fully contained in the lower and its by far the most durable way to make a trip. Once people see how the trip works i think its gonna open alot of doors for so many platforms that have been basically impossible due to lack of trip methods.

Cool! Don't tell us anything you're not allowed to of course, but we love hearing these details straight from the source!

So there is hope for my "Random XYZ" gun that uses say an AR FCG but has no bolt carrier tail and a slip trip or similar is impractical?

Yes id be surprised if this new trip doesn't work in something with a bit of work, the trip can be adapted to other platforms and while i don't have the time to make it work in everything out there its simple enough in design that i think people will clone/remix it and adapt it to some of the more weird platforms. Going forward i plan to adapt this trip concept to many other higher demand platforms. To be clear I'm not saying the parts from ARHK can be used in other platforms more so basically the method of the trip can be adapted to other platforms with custom parts so someone will have to make custom versions for the platforms they want it to work in.

Gotcha. I'm excited to see it. Both you and another designer (009515 on social media) have been putting out some awesome looking ideas.

I was driving home last year after my first trip out with the Franklin Binary in my AP5-P.  250-300 awesome rounds. The smile on my face was a mile wide.  This last month or two, I'd been looking around at FRT options, and after looking at what I'd have to do (ar style lower, etc), and what I'd have to spend, I told myself I was content to just keep the binary.  After reading through this thread 2 or 3 times.....I am no longer content.

I went to the range the other day. Put the first 300 suppressed rounds through it.  I'll be keeping the other 1700 rounds ready, for whenever this trigger pack drops.

I’ve had a couple of MP5 binary triggers.
They are fun, but once you try a FRT equipped MP5 you will never look at a binary again.

They constantly light primer strike, could be bolt bounce, could be that the timing is slightly early (a limitation of lever cam reset style devices), could also just be ammo picky. I will be doing more testing with it soon and ill try some other ammo types and such. It could totally work with ARHK with some ammo types I'm just setting expectations with the x39s that they aren't easy to get working.

Any feel for cyclic rate compared to a FA MP5?  There has been some discussion over on HKPro from SMEs about how current FRTs lead to “overfunction” in HKs.

I will be posting many videos very soon showing the ROF of ARHK, but for now here is a video of it running in a suppressed SP5K at around 930RPM with 124 grain NATO https://youtube.com/shorts/fPvKnp_Ztps?feature=share

The cyclic rate will be near identical to real FA mp5s with ARHK. A few people that have no idea what they are talking about claimed the slip trips length caused roller dents because it shortens the travel of the bolt carrier by like 6MM, the reality is 6MM shorter travel has near zero effect on anything EVEN in K guns. The most common reason people got roller dents with FRTs was due to them trying to use a lee sporting lower with a trip and SS never designed to be run with that lower. The next most common issue is most clones on the market are not suitable from the factory for full auto not to mention forced reset witch is even harder on the system, so when you pair a poorly made clone with a trip and SS never designed to be used with that lower (LS5) you get situations where the guns running over 1150 RPM and beating the hell out of itself.

I have posted countless videos showing the SS and ARC running at the correct ROFs for MP5Ks and Full size mp5s on twitter and i have also put well over 60K rounds through mp5s with the SS over the last 3 years developing all this stuff and not once have i got roller dents on any of my host, even with my out of spec AP5-P that runs way faster then it should its survived like 5 or 6, 5+ mag back to back mag dump test with zero issues and to this day no damage.

AP5 and AP5-P are both good as long as you swap to a 90 or 100 degree locking piece. From what i can tell they came or used to come with a 120 degree from the factory and that's gotta go before shooting SS or ARHK and even full auto conversions for that matter.

Not sure if this has been considered by AS, but ensuring the hammer sits sufficiently low on the sear to allow for a longer lock time when it’s released will slow the ROF down to be more similar to the factory MGs.

In the days before HK smiths were retiming the hammer-sear engagement with non-factory geometry transferable HK autosears, an mp5 with a sear could run at M11/9 speeds. This was due to the hammer sitting high in the pack, making for reduced lock time. I would assume the FRTs are analogous, because the hammer is sitting on the semiautomatic sear/disconnector, therefore lock time is even less than it would be with a transferable registered autosear and a standard FA (not re-timed) hammer. The semiauto sear/disconnector engagement notch on the hammer puts the hammer sitting even higher than it would sit if engaged on a registered HK autosear.

Perhaps a new hammer that moves the engagement surface for the semiautomatic sear/disconnector to allow the hammer to sit lower when engaged.

For a suppressed K, is the 80 necessary or desirable?  Or 90 is OK?

I use a RCM 90 normally. 80 might slow things down so much it no longer ejects reliably so you kinda just gotta test what works.

100 is typically fine for suppressed full size, that you can also run 90 and it will be fine suppressed also.

The SD uses a 120* LP as the exception, which is probably why these come equipped with them. Then MKE builds them they’re building on their SD line and simply using a AP5K barrel instead.

Do you have a list of clones you would say are good and ones to stay away from?
I'm sure it might be easier to list ones to stay away from.
I have not yet bought a MP5 clone but I am starting to get the itch after this thread was made.
I see you say the AP5 is ok with a locking piece swap.

Do you have a list of clones you would say are good and ones to stay away from?
I'm sure it might be easier to list ones to stay away from.
I have not yet bought a MP5 clone but I am starting to get the itch after this thread was made.
I see you say the AP5 is ok with a locking piece swap.

I'm curious about this as well.  I have a few clones and would like to get one for all of them if they work.  PTR 9kt and full size, Ralph Jr SD build, Parabellum HK53 build, etc.  Mine are all the older style, one push pin / denial shelf deal.

The problem with a list is HK clones are kinda complicated, you could buy a MKE like me and it will be so far out of spec you gotta put it in a vise bend the receiver tail back in place, then swap the bolt face, locking piece and ejector just to get it running correctly. Or you could buy a MKE today and it just runs perfect as is (with a LP swap) and so far that's the same for every clone maker asides from PTR. PTR so far has been the most consistent but even with them i get people messaging with issues. Basically its all over the place with clones, some people get one and it works great others get one and its total garbage. At this point i don't personally recommend anyone buy a clone because its basically gambling and debugging HK clone stuff can be really annoying if you gotta start messing with the bolt gap on a new gun.

This is from just from my POV tho i typically only really see the issues people have since i have been doing alot of debugging over the last few years on all these clones, most people don't message me with working guns its typically only stuff not working correctly and everything I'm saying is based off the actual issues with the host firearm not people having issues like backward hammer springs or stupid stuff like that.

All that said HK SP5s are by far and its not even close the most consistent, they literally just work and i have maybe seen 5 at most over the last few years with people having issues in SP5s.

Thanks for the insight.
Sounds like it pretty much boils down to "luck of the draw" unless you have the money to spend for a real HK (which I do not).

I just saw this on X.
fuck me.
I printed a lower and just this week got it running with the arcfire.

I'll have to order this and then put the ARC in my A2 clone.

Living this right now. The AP5SD I just bought is going back to Atlantic. Rear of the receiver is out of spec. The MKE A3 stock I also bought is out of spec. Pin holes were never bored to final diameter I could do it…but I’m frustrated enough at this point I’m sending them both back for replacement.

Hopefully mine arrives as near spec as possible. I've resisted the urge to purchase a MP5 or clone since the early 90's. Then ASD announces the ARHK FRT, which caused me to order an AP5-SD from Atlantic yesterday.

Hopefully the issues with x39 guns gets figured out. This would make my PTR-32p interesting to shoot again.

Any chance of a G36 FRT in partnership with S5’s clones?
