The only issue I’ve ever had with 80%s was that hammer and trigger pin holes didn’t retain pins well on some lowers, possibly as there was no anodizing in the pin holes (no friction, or bigger hole) so used NM .155 pins and Wilson TTUs (looks GI, captured pins, good ignition and pull). I popped the LAT into yet another 80% without a trigger group, then a third - never made it to a factory lower. Same issue on the 2nd, plus one pin hole seemed to be a tiny bit off on one side. Also, the red LAT housing was “proud” in the same way as on the problem lower. On the 3rd, the LAT sat noticeably lower - perhaps 1/100th on an inch, like about the width of a fishing line, maybe more, but immediately obvious - only a thin red line above the receiver wall. No issues with assembly (I did do front pin first). Function tests good. Suspect that with my redneck router and drill press jig machining, tolerances in pin holes or receiver floor can be off just enough, 1 or 2/100”, to be trouble free with a standard “milspec” setup, but the trip lever on the LAT has to be at just the right height to not impede the bolt carrier. I will photo and test fire this weekend. Will report back. Thank you to guys who replied to the thread, and special thanks also to @Ben and @HelpfulGuerilla, who took genuine interest in my problem. |

One of my disrupters is in a 80% done on a 5D tactical jig. |

Thinking about it, possible that the issue isn’t the pin holes but that the receiver “floor” is a hair deeper on the receiver that worked. I’ll have to measure tonight. |

I have a good report to make on my Disruptors. Very shortly after the Disruptors dropped last December, within perhaps 20 minutes, I purchased 4 Disruptors. When they arrived, I immediately installed 3 of them but saw that the safeties would not remain in the safe position. They would move into the fire position just by dragging a rifle out of the safe across the sling of another rifle. That would not do. My weapons were inoperable. I never installed the 4th Disruptor. From the discussion that took place as we learned of the defective selector barrels, it appeared that mine were some of the worst. I did not receive replacement safeties for months. There I sat with 4 worthless Disruptors. In the interim, I purchased 4 excellent safeties from Datum Machine Works. They are top notch. But the trigger pull on the Disruptors remained atrocious, full of creep, stacking, and grit with a touch of mush. So, I pulled two of the three Disruptors out of their host AR15s and installed G$ triggers and Arc-Fire v.1 FRTs in those pistols. I left the 4th Disruptor in a pistol as an example to provide to other people to try. I have about 8 or more SBRs, carbines, and rifles set up with FRTs from various manufacturers to pass around at shoots. All together, I have a couple dozen FRTs installed. My favorite is a G$ trigger and an ARC-Fire combo. I currently have 13 of these installed, both versions 1 and 2. I have two more G$ triggers inbound to bring me to a total of 15 G$ triggers, all mated to ARC-Fires. I bought 4 spring upgrade kits for my Disruptors but just got around to installing them. While I had the Disruptors on the bench, I polished them lightly with a medium ceramic stone, then a fine ceramic stone, and finished them off with my Dremel, a pad, and some jewelers rouge. This put a nice polish on them. Next, I installed them and tested the trigger pulls with my trigger gauge. This was not scientific. I installed the Disruptors in a stripped lower that I am in the process of building, mounted it in my vice, and made several pulls to settle the FCG in, then a half a dozen measured pulls on each Disruptor in the semi, and full-semi positions. The averages are listed below. I was pleased that the pull on all three was smooth, consistent, and without a gritty feeling. The breaks were clean and repeatable. They pulled and broke like a good single stage trigger. In each firing position they generally broke within a range of 1/4# or so. A half pound at the outside. They tested like this on average: Semi Full-semi 4.5# 6# 5# 7# 5.5# 7.25# 5.25# 6.75# I'll remove the 4th Disruptor soon and polish it, too. My testing is anecdotal, done primarily to satisfy my curiosity and to establish a personal, objective, metric. If they interest you, fine, if not, that is also OK. This encouraged me enough to move ahead with the purchase of an LAT, something that I had stated that I would do. But, I was waiting to see if the LAT would have the earlier production problems that plagued the Disruptor. It doesn't appear so, so I'm ready to pull the trigger. [ETA: I edited in the data above on the 4th Disruptor. I polished it tonight. It is about the same as the first three. It still has a bit of grit. More than the others, but most of it is gone. Earlier in this thread, I stated that I had stuck a Hoffman Super Safety in a lower as a joke. After polishing the Milspec take off parts used in it, it turned in the following data: Semi Full-semi 4.5# 6# ] |

That’s my best guess given the observed variance in where the LAT sits; a “thin red line” above in the “good” lower, a little more pronounced in two others. The tool head in the router was really on its last legs and I think I just need to remove a couple 1/100th of an inch on the lower floor and will set that up in a few weeks when I have time. It’s engraved for the LAT, and is sort of a C7 clone but with a light 20” barrel, Taiwanese stock, Rapidex knob, B5 retro grip, Lone Star handguards, and eventually, a Brushstroke paint job. Meanwhile I’ll put the LAT in my PWA Commando SBR (733 clone) and this HBAR setup gets the old OG RB FRT: Attached File |

This morning I tried the LAT in my PWA Commando lower, an SBR I’ve had for 20 years. These lowers were machined by LMT and appear to have very tight tolerances, because I had to tap in with a punch, couldn’t quite get it far forward enough for pin alignment and struggled/failed to get the safety in. Really surprised me. Little dings atop the housing from my time with the plastic hammer and drift punch. Tapped it out. Perhaps if I’d used lube… It fit my fake C8 lower perfectly, so I hunted up H2 and H3 buffers and went off to the races. Similar issue with bolt carrier sticking, but the upper I put on it (18” FN/PSA) had a Geissele super on it and I pulled past it. Bolt did not want to drop unless I moved selector or actually dropped rifle on the tailgate (on the rifle bag). Fired fine in semi; actually a decent semi trigger. In “super semi” it would consistently fire one round and lock the bolt back. If I moved the selector back to “semi” the bolt would return to battery and I could fire repeatedly on semi. However in the assisted reset position it became a straight pull, single shot rifle; the bolt would return to battery consistently and only when I moved the selector back to semi. After a couple of magazines of this I put it away. I’ll try it in another factory lower and see what’s up. Rifle was 18” unsuppressed chrome-lined 1:8, PSA nickel boron BCG. H3 carbine buffer. Magazines a mix of relatively new GI with Magpul followers, Lancer and Magpul Gen 3 PMAGs running 55gr Lake City/Winchester. No issues with this load or mags. |

This is the first I've ever heard of an issue like this...and, not going to lie, I'll need to ask an engineer and I'll get back to you. Bizarre issue. |
