Cornfire Arsenal? (Now Copperhead Safety vs Corn Gun Works?) (Page 4 of 10)

I'm pretty sure most FCGs are heat treated tool steel NOT just surface hardened, there's a difference. Heat treat goes all the way through. You don't re-heat treat a knife every time you sharpen it. As far as corrosion, shouldn't be an issue with a good polish and a little oil, no different than the sear engagement surfaces; this is a wear area. Now the ones that are nitrated... that's a different animal. That surface treatment is definitely gone but it's still hardened tool steel underneath. Like a knife with DLC. A nothing burger for 99.99%. I get some are irritated because the parts don't always just drop in and they don't want to take a file to an expensive trigger but come on, a little sense here and the trigger will be 100% usable without the FRT. I mean, I agree, spread the truth that these devices will probably need fitting, period. That way one can decide if they have the ability, but don't start making up stuff about ruining heat treating, etc. |

My MARC tests fine with an SSA-E. Installed today in a POF lower with a G SSA-E that I have had for years. I can't remember exactly when I got this G trigger. I also used a ASD lever blocker. I will test fire this weekend hopefully. Edit These really need an ambi option. |

With the Atrius style design, of which the Cornfire is one, a lot of users have been seeing the trip levers break after a few hundred rounds. It happens because when the hammer gets pressed back as the BCG is moving rearward, if the rear area of the trigger is too tall, it ends up applying force to the trip lever at both ends, and the lever is fixed in place through the selector, so the trip lever snaps. With the Atrius specifically, you need to file/grind down the top of the tail of your trigger such that it passes this test: You put the selector switch in the third (FRT) position, then you press the hammer down with some force, and you move the trip lever through its swing arc. You should feel no resistance. If you do feel resistance, imagine the BCG pushing the trip lever against that resistance while it also pushes the hammer down, and you'll see how that excess force is applied to the trip lever. Here's a video (not mine) explaining the process. I've modified the standard GI triggers with my two Atrius selectors to pass this test, and I have not had to modify the two Geissele SSA triggers I'm using with my Cornfire selectors. This is the reason some of us were so excited by Cornfire's initial advertising, that it would drop in with a Larue MBT 2 stage. It would give a true drop in, match grade FRT for about 300 bucks all in, without having to do the modification I described with the Atrius. ![]() Atrius Forced Reset Selector - How I Tune My Configuration |

Got mine installed in a AP5-P, with a Lee LS-5 lower, and a PSA mil spec trigger. This gun runs great on a Grey Market Super Safety. I also used the Active Safety Designs overtravel stop. (The ASD part is a tad loose in the lower, so I’m not sure if it will work out or not.) The gun passes the function tests. Hope to get to the range in the next few days. |

Only issues I ran into were with a Geissele trigger. With that guy, it bound up like crazy after a couple short bursts. I'm assuming that's because I don't have the over travel stop mentioned on the website. Shame I can't use it with my SSA, but I can tolerate that until I buy another selector with the stop. My father-in-law (firing the AR in the first video) is in love, and wants to buy two of them. Guess we're both waiting for them to come back in stock. As well as the ambi version. Did you end up having to alter the upper receiver or did it work without modification? @Alpha-17 ETA: Is the consensus this doesn't work as advertised? It seems like most folks are reporting they need to modify the trigger but the company has not provided instructions on what needs to be done. |

@Aimless I have no dog in this fight, other than that I would like to proliferate FRTs across the known Universe. In an email to customers, Cornfire says they've tried getting in touch with y'all to set up a dealer account, and that y'all have deleted some accounts of theirs. You don't need to respond publicly, I just wanted to bring it to your attention. I think it would be helpful to this site if these guys are represented here to talk about their product. |

Besides the two DD uppers I tried it with, I can confirm it works, at least to my limited testing, with an HK MR556A4 upper. Over Thanksgiving, I talked my dad into ordering one. He had hoped it would work in a Blackrain AR-10 he has, but no go. Hardly surprising. We put it in an Anderson lower with a no-name upper. Didn't work at first (fired fine on semi, but the third position fired once, and then loaded a round with a dead trigger), but when I swapped out his carbine buffer and spring for my H3/Red spring combo, it fired fine. Didn't do much testing, but I'm assuming that the heavier buffer should fix the issue. There's more slop in the safety lever than mine, but it seems functional. Based on my experience, I planned on buying a couple more. I guess we'll see if they work or if I run into more of the problems you guys seem to be experiencing. |

I received this email from Cornfire and wanted to pass this along. I’m going to polish/file some of my MBT triggers to make it work with the MARC. Larue MBT Information Update + Hello All! Patrick with Cornfire Arsenal- Wanted to send an email with our findings after purchasing a few new larue triggers and seeing what was needed to get them to function properly- Please see the attached or visit our website for the full report. https://cornfirearsenal.com/marc-larue-mbt2s-info/ TL;DR is- Larues Vary wildly in specs where these interface with the MARCs, Due to this we can't guarantee they will work without modifications, however they can and do work with modification, details in that report on how. A Couple things: Modifying a trigger shoe does not normally ruin a heat treat. Heat treatment is not surface treatment, like nitriding, those are separate processes. The only way to ruin a heat treat is to get something so hot that it starts to anneal, which minor sanding will not do. Surface treatments are affected obviously when material is removed, but the hardness difference between underlying material and that surface should not have an issue with using the MARCs. It is hard enough to resist deformation. We are actively trying to get some of the AS design styled blockers/overtravel stops made and available to you all. Right now we are hoping to have those in the coming weeks or month, but no exact ETA. These will be much better in terms of durability as they will be made of metal and not specific to geisseles like our current slip ons. Again, I would like to reiterate, if you purchased a MARC for specific use with a Larue MBT2S, and want to send it back, we are absolutely willing to give a full refund, please just reach out to us! I don't want to hear any whining about it moving forward! If continued whining occurs, you will be mogged for being poor and not using a geissele. 😉 Thank you all for your feedback thus far! We will continue to have an open ear to our customers and make continuous improvements to our products with that in mind! Patrick Corn Cornfire Arsenal LLC |
I just got back from my shooting pit, ordered 2 of the $99 complete lowers from PSA last week. I swapped out the stock buffer for H3/super 42 combo. Installed the MARC, plus changed the grip. Shot 90 rounds without issues. These things rock, mine have ran from day one with NO issues ,NO filing, sanding, grinding, shims, etc. I'm sold on these. ![]() |

Also, for what it’s worth. The own of corn fire arsenal is constantly evaluating his own product and sending out emails for people discussing what works and what he’s learning about different triggers. He’s tried to get his account on here up and running but I believe is having issues, according to his email. I’m not affiliated with his company AT ALL, I just like guns. But he seems like a stand up dude who’s trying to do right by his customers. |
| I have one of the MARCs on order. I currently have two Rare Breed, two AZR 3 positions and an original 2 position. I think the MARC is going into my Nodak A1 lower and will try a Bore Buddy trip with a CMMG .22LR drop-in kit. I have a couple of Geissele and KAC 2 stage triggers but I have no desire to run any of those setups in FRT mode. Can’t wait to see how the MARC does. |

Ordered two more this morning; one for my Daniel Defense (hopefully the new over travel stop works) and one for my Father-in-law for Christmas. He seemed to get a kick out of the first one I toyed with. I also convinced my brother to order one for his next AR build. My scheme to arm the entire clan is proceeding apace. I probably won't order any more, at least until the ambi version is released, or if they roll out a new version that for sure will work with an HK MR556A4. I saw that the A1 version of the trigger has been added to the list of triggers that doesn't work, so that's not confidence inspiring. Complete side note, but does any one know of a company that is making a 45* throw FRT selector? Is such a thing even possible? I really enjoy my 45* throw levers, and it would be nice to get both FRT functionality and 45* throw if/when I ever install one in my HK. |

The AZR3P and the Rare Breed can be made to work with available 45 degree M16 selectors. I imagine all of the forced reset selectors would require a complete redesign. |

I put mine in a AP5-P with a Lee lower and a mil spec trigger. Attached File This gun runs like a scalded cat with a Grey Market Super Safety and a trigger that I cut with a GM jig. I used the steel ASD over travel stop. I put a drop of blue thread locker on the threads and tightened it down as hard as I was comfortable with using the Allen screw. The Cornfire passed all of function tests. At the range I fired a few semi rounds then switched to FRT. I fired a burst of maybe 5 rounds. When I went to pull the trigger again it seemed stiff. I switched back to semi, bang, bang, bang, then back to FRT. The trigger was hard to pull but I got off another burst, then it locked up again. When I switched back to semi, it would not fire. I found that the bolt was no longer traveling back far enough to pick up a round. I thought maybe the lever had broken, but I wasn’t about to tear it apart at the range. Brought it back home for trouble shooting and when I dropped the lower everything looked normal but the trigger was locked. As I started to remove the MARC, I realized right away the screw in the safety was loose. I’m thinking/hoping that the loose screw was the whole problem. I believe it allowed safety to slip out of an actual mode. I found 30 Torx 4-40 screws on Amazon for $10. https://a.co/d/fM3OcVO Different lengths and already coated with thread locker. I will try one of those whenever I can get back to the range. |
