I know nothing about AR's. I'm going back and forth about building one or buying my first one and then modifying to suit me.

I'm a big fan of Sig Sauer pistols. I found this Sig AR at what I though was a good price. SIG SAUER M400 AR-15 RIFLE 5.56NATO 16'' BARREL.

Is it a good idea to buy this as my first gun instead of building one and fix it to my likes as needed?

Thanks

It's probably best to buy your first as a complete rifle to familiarize yourself with the platform. After that build one the exact way you want it. You will have a better idea of what works for you and what you like after you have a rifle to base your experience on. Just my opinion of course. Ymmv.

Right now you can get a complete Delton AR15 for $450. That's about the best deal out there on a complete AR and the quality isn't total shit.

Delton isn't the highest of quality but for a first rifle it's great and I know many people who have excellent Delton rifles.

For $450 you can't really go wrong because you'll be able to sell it or build off of it when it comes time for you to invest in some fancy parts/rifles.

Op, I have a Sig M400 that I love. I bought mine during the SH panic and got bent over but at least I got a quality rifle. How much is the one you're looking at?

First two replies nailed it. Get the Del-Ton. There's a lot of hate for them around here, but frankly that's because ARFCOM is a small subset of AR owners who care just as much about name brands and appearances than functionality. Most of us talk more than we shoot.
