Im working on my first build. Pistol first but soon apply for an SBR stamp. im almost done but i have a couple questions that I've searched for but find mixed results. i know most forums hate it when you dont search enough but im beat.

so i recently purchased KAK 11" barrel and im going to order a Noveske 11" NSR

1)Will i have clearance to attach a QD blast shield or suppressor if i decide to acquire one in the future.

2)Does OAL length apply for pistols or do all pistols have to be under 26"

3)Does ATF measure the attached muzzle device or just end of the barrel?

1) No idea

2) Unless your state has funky rules, you can have a 36" bbl on your pistol.  Just doesn't have a shoulder stock, and was originally built as a pistol from a virgin receiver.

3) BATFE only counts the permanently fixed muzzle device for Title 1 firearms, such as rifles & Other Fireams.  Are you trying to come up w/ your stamp length, or are you trying to go past 26" so you can turn your pistol into an Other Firearm w/ a VFG?

Thank you for response...i live in Nevada, but ill look further into those laws.

im not trying to measure...yet. i just want to make sure i can legally own it as a pistol until stampd comes in.

The best answer, without more info, is maybe. The answer depends on your handguard/rail length and inside diameter, the muzzle device, the specific blast shield or suppressor, and if you plan to nest the blast shield or suppressor inside the handguard/rail.  Usually, an honest 10" rail with an honest 11" barrel should have enough room but unfortunately actual lengths may vary (e.g., BCM's KMR 10 rail is 10.5" with the flares at 3 and 9 o'clock).

With that barrel and rail setup your muzzle device will be under the rail. People have actually broken their rails doing this with a brake or regular muzzle device. I know the kx3 will not fit under this rail or any suppressor I can think of. Noveske is suppposed to come out with a kx3 that will fit though. I would get a shorter rail if it was me or find a muzzle device that sends the blast foward.

I failed to recognize the Noveske 11" NSR as a rail.
