Been lurking for a little bit to learn as much as I could about this platform.  Great info on this forum and after days of reading, I recently purchased my first AR15.  I've always wanted one, even though I'd never even fired a rifle prior to the AR I just bought but I was NOT disappointed.  Just ordered a case of Wold Gold based on what I've read here and the reviews on YouTube.  Anyway, thanks to everyone on this forum for the wealth of information!

Ahhhh, Welcome to the wonderful world of Ars.  Look fondly upon your prior life when you had time and money, because those days are now gone.  Look ahead to your new life as an Arfcommer; where your personal portfolio now contains lists entitled '5 Gallon bucket Wheat', "Junk Silver', Ammo", "Reloading Supplies", and other such things...

Enjoy

BTW: since you now have posted here for the first time, you now have a $250K/yr job, a supermodel Wife, 3 5000 sq/ft homes, 7 cars (6 of which are worth $150K or more each), and so forth...

Welcome and don't forget to add a range report to this post.  You are going to shoot it, right?

Practice, practice, practice.  Take a class when you have the time and money.  Oh, and pics of hot supermodel wife, so we can compare her to our hot supermodel wives

Get yourself one of these. They come in handy. Amazon, Brownells and Midway will have them. (Brownells is a site sponsor.)

Thank you all for the warm welcome.  The rifle I bought is an LMT MRP in FDE.  Because I'm a noob with the AR platform (rifles in general), I opted for a fairly inexpensive red dot sight (Vortex Strikefire II) to start with.  I'm planning to get a 1 to 6 scope eventually.  My 1000 rounds of Wolf Gold arrived yesterday so I went out to see how it shot.  I used a IDPA target set at 100 yards.

The rifle:

My high-tech bench rest:

The target (circled in red):

I shot several 5 shot groups, here is the first.  The target is an IDPA standard size target:

Second 5 shot group:

Third 5 shot group:

This is a 10 shot group I shot:

I know this is not impressive to an experienced shooter but please keep in mind that I'm a noob.  It was really difficult for me to place shots as the red dot covered almost the entire center of the target.  It's a 4 MOA red dot.  With a scope and better ammo, I feel confident that I can do better.  As suggested above, I need practice, practice and more practice!  BTW, I had no malfunctions with the Wolf Gold and it seems to be more accurate than I am.  I did shoot some CQ distances unsupported (around 20 to 50 yards) and that was much easier.  Anyway, thats my little range report, this thing is sooooo awesome!

You don't have enough posts and Team Members have to approved them.  You'll see them soon.  BTW, nice rifle and good shooting!  Get a box or two of heavier, match-grade ammo and see if the rifle will do better.  It should.

If your shooting a 1/7 twist barrel the 55gr wont be as acurate. You would need to raise the grain up heavier for a more accurate shot placement.

Yeah, it's a 1 in 7 barrel and I've heard that it would do better with a heavier grain bullet. My best 5 shot group was 2 inches with the Wolf Gold. Maybe with some 75 grain quality ammo, magnified optic and most of all practice, I think I can get the groups into an inch.
