Looking to buy a Smith Vortex flash hider to put on a Stag 3L.

First time changing out a barrel device and I want to make sure I'm getting the right pieces and parts.

Is there a standard Mil Spec for the thread pitch on an AR15, 5.56 with 1/9 twist?

well 1:9 isn't mil spec, but the standard 5.56 flags hider is 1/2 x 28

Thanks for the input. That's the thread pitch that the hider I was looking at is, so that's good.

What is the Mil Spec for barrel twist, while we're on the topic?

This. Mil-spec is 1/7 twist. But it's (and yours) thread pitch is 1/2 x 28

Thanks for the info guys.

1/7 stabilizes heavier bullets than 1/9 can?

Pretty much. It BETTER stabilizes the heavier (longer round) than 1/9 does. The military adopted 1/7 twist to better stabilize M856 tracers, while still adequately stabilizing M855 as well.
