Hi,

I just bought a 4002Q TUFF 2 Point Sling, the sling it self is very good quality but the sling is too long. I have adjusted everything to be the shortest possible.

It works great for shooting stances but not for carry it on my back. Running a long distance with both hands occupied would be terrible. I am 5"11.
The smallest I could get the sling is about 51 inches.

I am new the AR15 platform, is there something fundamental I am missing?

Many thanks

The search for the perfect (for you) sling will end up being like many other accessories on your AR: you are just gonna have to buy em and try em to find out what works best for you. Everyone has different preferences. I've probably gone through at least 5 slings until I found the one that I like and fits my need and shooting style.

I also have a box full of pistol grips, fore grips and other small items like that. Just kind of part of the experience I guess.

But, to answer your question: no, you didn't miss anything. It's just too long for you.

For me I am not fond of bungee attachments, remove the section below your pictured pistol grip and you will likely lose about 12".

I have a drawer full of holsters. Researching a purchase just limits the number of mistakes.  People do have personal preferences and what one persons likes another hates. If there was one perfect trigger, Geissele would make just one model.

+ 1 on the Vickers padded sling.

I understand what you are saying, this is my 3rd sling now.
I ended up getting a Vickers 2pt sling that I modified with a Blackhawk snaphook.

Didn't know they had a padded version!
That is very nice when carrying heavy guns (like walking a few days with the minimi).

Thanks!

+1 That's what I got and instead of cutting excess once I got it measured for me, I rolled it up and put some black tape to hold it. It's a nice sling!

Without a doubt.  Prior to my taking a 2 Day Carbine Course (@ TRC), a friend of mine suggested this sling; glad I listened...

It's funny my favorite sling is the simple 5$ nylon web sling from dpms. I have it adjusted for comfortable carry while also being able I use it I stablize my rifle when shooting while standing

I'm not sure that would work... from the picture, it looks like the center piece has two female connectors.

Of course, if the OP knows somebody with a sewing machine, he should be able to do this by swapping the snap-connectors.

Looks pretty long and may hang down to an ankles. Was never a big fan of bungee slings.

I only tried several slings, but found that i personally like the Blue Force Vickers 2PT padded combat sling and now that's all I use on all my rifles. Maybe there is something better, but the Vickers is my favorite so far.

New guy is right.  The problem isn't the implementation that seems like a wiz bang sling that doesn't have much use in reality but looks cool in the gun shop.  I have gone through a ton of slings over the years.  I think I used a different sling in each deployment I did.  I have found that the magpul slings are decent enough and that style is what I generally like.  I want to be able to adjust the length on it on the fly so I can quickly go from slung to tension when shooting.

On my precision rifle I have a vickers slings like mad hatter mentioned and they are great for that style of use.  The reason I like the magpul ms2 and ms3 is that they are convertible to single point and two point.  I like that when in armor but understand it isn't a problem for most people.

Welcome to the original poster and mad hatter by the way.
