Nothing like making an ass of oneself as an intro, but I've exhausted Google over this...

The TG on my M4 has 2 obvious roll pins.  The trouble is the forward pin has no through channel extending through the bolt release side of the receiver.  Common wisdom states this is a spring-loaded pin, but its not the case here.  There is a black plug of some sort that will not depress with any of my punches i it appears to have a roll pin around it. I'm losing hair over here.  Thanks, guys.

The front pin is spring loaded, not a roll pin.

There's a whole "Build it Yourself" forum with excellent instructions on installing a lower parts kit you can reference.

Thank you - watching the TG portion opened my eyes. What I thought was the roll pin was the edge of the threaded insert of the plastic Magpul TG.  With better lighting I was able to see there was a very small hex insert inside of it.  Removed it without issue.

Ahh, OK, it has the MagPul trigger guard and furniture on it.  Yeah, that changes things a little bit, but sounds like your figured it out.

Great resources on this forum.  It's where I came in 2004 when the sickness started and I wanted to assemble my own "M4gery."  Just take your time, be patient, and if in doubt, read /watch "it" agai.

Why are you trying to remove the magpul trigger guard? Its far superior to the mil spec version. The Magpul trigger guard uses a set screw for the front pin.

Either way make sure the Allen key you use is good quality........I stripped several cheap ones installing my magpul trigger guard. That set screw is tough
