Hi all, I introduce me  my name is Gae from Turin Italy

First, I apologize for any errors in the language.

I would like to submit a question to receive your valuable advice from experts.

I want to buy my first black rifle unfortunately  I have a limited money budget.

The choice are oriented on these models:

1 ) Norinco CQ-A 223 Rem . Price in Italy about 850 € 1160 USD

2 ) S&W MP15 Sport 223 Rem . Price in Italy about 900/950 €  1300 USD

Alternatively, there would be S&W MP15 OR I like more than the sport model which comes out of my budget  € 1400 1900 USD

What do you recommend ?  I would be oriented toward the S & W Sport what me to doubt about this model is that it lacks the foward assist and dust port cover

It s 'also true that the F.A. in the regular sessions of the polygon is not necessary ( I am not in the desert or in the jungle ) but the lack of this makes me " sad " as the port dust cover  that may , however, has a true utility .

Please help me in the choise

I await your comments suggestions regarding

Many thanks in advance

2 ) S&W MP15 Sport 223 Rem . Price in Italy about 900/950 €  1300 USD

OR is not worth 600 more USD in my opinion. Wow prices are high there.

Of those choices...

2) M&P Sport

+1

I agree, the OR is not worth that much over the Sport.  The forward assist is not needed but it is strange to see them make one without a dust cover.

Those prices are high compared to the US.

Unfortunately i know in italy the prices are very very high than US

Did you know that ar15.com has a European hometown forum?

It's true here is a section made up of you silly euro spending folks.  It would be very wise to step in and introduce yourself.   It is possible some one in there will know of a place to save on different rifles.

Gae, first of all, welcome to the board! You've got some pretty good advice above, and I can't add anything to it.

I wonder if you'd like to give us an idea of how restrictive  Italian guns laws are? Most of us have no idea what Europeans like yourself must go through to own a gun.

That said, Italian gun manufacturers produce some pretty fine firearms!

They do not draw distinction between SBR and 16+ barrels.

I apologize if I have "interfered" in your forum but I think the best advice they can get from the home of the black rifle.
Mine are technical questions about what rifle I listed and according to my budget can go well.
In Italy recently there has been a revision on the number of bullet in the magazine.
in principle not descend to particulars, the burst shooting is banned, you can hold 3 weapons cataloged common, 6 sports cataloged, and countless hunting rifles cataloged

Gonna have to vote for the S&W also; and a dust cover is nice and all, but it's not $600 nice... Also, hope you didn't get the impression we were trying to run you out of here, telling you about the European Hometown Forum, just looking to give you another place to look for info in addition to here

S & W MP15 is a solid choice.
You can add to it down the road.

Welcome to the boards and ask all the questions you want. That's what this forum is for.

I was in Turin back in 1975.

Welcome to the Forum!

As stated the S&W is a good rifle and should serve you well. Plus their customer service is exceptional.

Ciao and welcome.

To answer your question, the Chinese have a better name in their guns than the rest of their products, so casting the Norinco away would not be wise.

Although I've never held one, someone on another forum from Canada said they're pretty consistent shooters and are finished well.

But to be safe, I would get the S&W.

Problem with Norinco is that they're specs are vague.  There is no list of alloys used anywhere I could ever find.

To be honest I'm only going off by what the Canadian said. Never seen them in the flesh.

But if they make their AR's as good as their target rifles, than I think OP would be getting a better value than he thinks.

What are the import regulations like in Italy?

The Upper Receiver is an unrestricted part here in the U.S., and fairly inexpensive (about $100, including the forward assist, and ejection port dust cover).

Would it be possible for you to buy the M&P15 in Italy, order a Replacement Upper Receiver from a source in the U.S., and have the barrel switched to the replacement Upper Receiver when it gets to Italy?

Ok guys you have given me the confirmation of what was already my idea
MP forever!! The idea of ??replacing the up receiver  at a later time is not a feasible solution in Italy. My only regret is that to have an AR should immediately  i have to renounce the F.A. and dust port or wait for some time (gather enough money) and finally have a Black rifle!

Hi,
I have been shooting a pair of times with a couple friends norincos...never had problems at the static range, dont know with hot weapon how it could go...anyway dont trust that much chinese after I knew they sent to italy a cargo vessel full of steel that resulted radioactive...before buying it check if it glows in the dark :-)
Also I know that couple of other friends tried to get on some accessories, like stock and rails, and had problems fitting them cause of strange measures.

Now doubt about SW between the two...take a chance to look at the Nuova Jager m4 production, they have two levels of quality, the lower one, is still build from parts made in the US together with other made directly in their factory, they discharged norinco cause of not passing quality tests.
The difference from the basic and the higher is that upper and lower of the basic are stamped and the higher ones are milled.
If I remember it right the basic line should be around the same price range of the MP.

About italian rules on weapons... :( you better dont know anything about that you might get crazy :-)

Ciao

P.S. Price are high?? Even Italian weapons in the US are cheaper than here!

Ciao  Lethimos are you  an Italian who lives in the U.S. or write from italy?
As I said the Noric has a more affordable price ... but it is always a Norinco ...
in Italy there is New Jager not that bad as ADC Dellera, Unfortunately my problem is that I have to put money aside ... Anyway this site is colossal so there was a site like this in Italy.
Thanks for the info.
ciao

I'm still in italy, around Florence to be precise.

I know that norincos are the most affordable here, maybe is tha way I am...if I can, I prefer waiting a bit more but get something reliable than get the best price without assured quality.

As I said I dont know for sure the price of the NJ m4, I thought they were around 1300€ but maybe the prices have raised.

ADC I think dont have much different essential parts than other producers they then work on optimizing the trigger e just put on high quality accessories.
That is the reason of their high price....you could do an ADC level gun even starting with the SW mp15

Ciao
