Homebrew sling out of a GP strap, 550 cord, and a German medical bag assy for that early 90's VTAC :)
Also ditched the zip ties for some electrical tape (much better)

Finally got all the parts and pieced this together last night. I initially wanted to do an XM4, but it kind of morphed into a 727 BHD build ;)
Started as a LE trade-in 6520. I added the N1 stock, period correct Colt M16 BCG, sling swivel, Surefire 660 on Surefire M14 mount. Sling is a placeholder until I can find something period correct, or fashion something out of ALICE webbing and 550 cord.
I planned on refinishing in a custom mix of Norrel's Moly Resin to match the Colt dark gray, but part of me is digging the black anodizing.
Best part: I was going to just throw on a standard Colt 14.5 pinned barrel and call it a day. I found this one at a good price on the EE, and as it turns out, it's a legit RO727 barrel! LOL What are the odds?

That is truly beautiful! Congrats on the build. I've been looking for one of those flashlights and barrel mounts for a while. Nice work on the photos too.

There is a thread in AR Discussions where ColdBlue says the Marines actually had normal ole M4's that had A2 uppers. They were actually called M4's, not 727's.........
This is a super duper super duper awesomely great build.
