I have just registered on this site and have posted a few pics of my Colt SP1 on the retro forum. I never realized that there was so much interest in the older AR rifles until I started nosing around here.

Sooo, I thought I'd take a moment to post up a few pictures of my A2 that I built back in 1989 using all GI parts except the barrel (Wilson heavy match) and the receiver (PWA). This has been a great rifle and back when I was shooting in the service rifle matches it took me to master class. I just wasn't good enough to get past that, but certainly not the rifles fault. I couldn't count the number of rounds have been shot through it, but it is still as accurate as ever.

Note the wear on the charging handle, it was new when I put it on all those years ago.

With my other oldie.

I like seeing all this interest in the A1"s and A2's.
Nothing like a good simple rifle, no frills. Very nice.

That's a beautiful Alpha Deuce OP (the SP1 in the background is just as nice).  I've heard that Lewis Machine & Tool made those lowers for PWA as they're both Milan, IL.  You can see the difference in the finish of these lowers due to the hand polishing and finishing.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I have always heard that the PWA receivers were a cut above the others available at that time. I built a couple of rifles and a carbine or two using these and surplus M16 parts. I can say that I never had a problem with any of them as far as fitting together and functioning.

I have had a few offers on the lower since it is a pre ban serial number and the poor souls that live under the autocratic liberal rulers in certain states want them to build up rifles.

I/live in one of those states and they reestablished the 1994 AWB in March 2012, I went out and bought as many lowers that I could afford prior to midnight on the "D-Day". I love both rifles the way they are and wouldn't dare change a thing, they are beautiful.

Nice A2! I just finish my first A2 about a month ago. I spend most of my time in Retroland. I saw the SP1 over there. It is also a beauty! I'm a fan of guns with history. I've yet to sell any of mine and have a few from my Dad and Grandfather. Hang on to those two and be sure to pass them along when you are done.
