Mine just arrived.
Alcoa forge mark if memory serves.
Machining looks very good, flash marks are almost non-existent instead of prominent like the examples I was issued in the late 80s and 90s.
Seems like the new management of American Spirit Arms really are doing things differently and better.
Will post more once the rest of the goodies are here.

All lint is mine and not the manufacturer's lint.
No lint was included in the packaging.

Nice! Hopefully everything goes together well. I want to order one but am still a little leary of them based on the things I've heard.

I was leery too and probably will remain so but at least this one seems good.
Their website doesn't show you your order history but they package and ship VERY quickly.
I ordered A2 handguards today and got a tracking number in less than 2 hours.

Took this spectacular picture with my potato.

WW gov't profile 1/7 barrel
WW BCG
ASA A2 upper

Barrel extension and upper have M4 feedramps that line up perfectly.

Putting this on my Stag lower for my A4 clone for now.

I see that I left some ice cream around the barrel nut after assembly.

Looks like you just cost me some money.

Nice stick. How's it shoot?

Surprisingly good, especially given my eyesight.
25m zero groups could be covered with a nickel.
Regularly hammered the 500m scuba tank gong at the range.
Haven't shot it on paper at 100 yet.
Ammo was PMC X-TAC M193 which chrono'd around 3200fps out of my other upper which is a BMC 20" A4 clone upper.

Better pic.
2-2.5" groups with irons at 100 yards and PMC M913.
had one 10 shot group where 8 of the holes were in 1.5" and the other two opened it to 2.5"
This WW barrel is more accurate than I expected.
No purple in the upper like I originally thought.
ALG trigger group helps with the accuracy a wee bit too.

You cost me some money too... I was looking to do an A2, ended up ordering this upper and the WW barrel. Both sent confirmed tracking numbers to me in a few hours.

For the cost of everything involved, it's pretty decent.

Plan A was to get a FN barrel off the EE along with a matched upper and lower from RRA.
That plan was destroyed by impatience.

Forgive my ignorance but, WW barrel?

Sounds like it may go well with my future a2 upper

Windham Weaponry. They are/were Bushmaster until around 2010 when they sold their rights to the Bushmaster
name and rollmark to the Freedom Group Corp. Now Bushmaster, DPMS, and Remington AR's all come out of Ilion, New York. Bushmaster was located in Windham, ME.... Owners decided to stay in the game and reopened the plant with their new name. Windham Weaponry.

I can't quite tell from the picture, but was the receiver anodized after they cut the M4 feedramps? Just curious since ASA is one of the first places I've been able to find an A2 upper receiver that had M4 ramps.

Keep an eye on GunBroker. I just won a like new Colt A2 receiver for a very good price, with M4 feed ramps and stamped M4 on the front of the handle. It should arrive by tomorrow, and will be mated with Daniel Defense 14.5" lightweight barrel.

I should do something like that, but I'm not patient enough for gunbroker. I ended up picking up a couple from ASA, so I'm hoping they did a good job on them. I'm planning on using one for an A2 using a WW barrel like the OP did and possibly use the other for a 727 build.

727 build is the next thing I'm pondering assuming I can find the right barrel with a non-F front sight and a fairly correct fiberite stock.

A tale of 3 uppers...
I started out looking for a basic RRA A2 upper for a pencil barrel build with a carbine stock.  It was harder than I thought, although I have solved it.  I could not initially find a complete A2 receiver!  Who builds with those, anyway!?  Eventually I found this FNH take off.  It is decent but doesn't match my RRA lower (too shiny). It's fine wrt fit but does not have the same finish as the lower.  Nice, but I can do better, I thought. F  and Keyhole forging. No M4 machining.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Within a couple of days I found this ASA A2 upper direct from American Spirit, after visiting this thread.  It is GREAT
http://www.americanspiritarms.com/upper-receivers/asa-a2-ar-15-m4-upper-receiver/
The finish very closely matches my RRA lowers and the fit and finish are excellent.  I have not shot it but the sights look good.
~$129 with very prompt service.  Looks to be the same forging as the RRA to follow. "A" forging, same as the RRA.  Yes to M4 machining.  Thank You ASA!

Sorry, but even with manual flash I cannot show the M4 ramps but they are clean.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About this time I found a RRA manufactured complete upper from PK Firearms.  http://www.pkfirearms.com/Upper_Receivers/25/c
$190 with great service.
The finish is exactly the same as my RRA lowers and the fit is very good.  "A" forging, same as the ASA.  No M4 machining.

I contacted several distributors of RRA, and contacted RRA directly.  I was informed they are not manufactured until ordered so can take 4 plus months.  I was very happy that PK Firearms had it in stock. Thank You PK Firearms!

In summary, all the A2 receivers work fine wrt fit and finish but the RRA from PK Firearms most closely matches my RRA lowers.   The RRA A2 Uppers are not easy to find in stock and PK had them.
The ASA was a best buy with the best fit and very good finish and great price.  It is the only one with M4 machining. I will come back to ASA.
The FNH has solid construction but the finish is enough different so I will use it last.  Great machining and construction, no problem, but not the same RRA finish.
Note that White Oak Arms does lots of A2 stuff historically but is OOS on A2 uppers, so could not look at them.

Seems like there are only so many A2 upper manufacturers.
Maybe we need a perma link to "in stock" A2 uppers?

Now that I have 3 A2 uppers I guess I need 2 more pencil barrels.  What's an A2 upper without a pencil barrel?  (Just kidding!)
Too much fun!

Best,

Rick
