Hi All-

Brand new to the forum...........seems like a great place to be. Question for you............I have a late 80's-early 90's Colt AR-15 Sporter 2 (I am the original owner)............the front takedown is a screw, rather than a push pin..........is that common,,,,,,,,,,does it make a difference or signify anything important in the model transition???? Thanks for your help

It is normal for that era.

What you didn't believe the guys in the AR forum??

What you ran into was a group of people who think they know AR's. Good to ask for a second opinion....I had one just like  a long time ago.

That is how mine came from the Colt factory when I bought it in 1987 while stationed at Castle AFB.

Some of those came with 0.25 diameter pins too.  But I believe those were a later vintage than the pic so not sure of the diameter of that one.
