My first all a2 build.  I gave it the been there done that look:

Basically, I needed to build a carbine for a buddy of mine.  He wanted more of a m4 type carbine, but (as you guys know) that dog ain't going to hunt these days.  So, I looked around my gun room and found enough a2 parts to put together a complete carbine.  The barrel is a 14.5" Daniel Defense with a permanently attached flash hider.  I used a BCM extended flash hider that is a really quality piece.  Our friend John Thomas mounted the front sight base and pinned and welded the flash hider.  Most of the parts I got off the EE when prices where cheap.  I put in a 3 pound Timney Trigger.  The only weak link is the bolt carrier group.  I wanted to put in a full auto BCG, but the prices are just stupid now on BCGs.

The paint is Krylon.  I just fiddled around with spraying then sanding down, kind of back and forth until it looked "right".  I thought the paint was a bit strong, but my buddy liked it the way it turned out.  I also wanted to paint up the furniture in a Krylon khaki color, but he liked the contrasting black furniture.

Now, here is the real problem.  The barrel is 1 in 7 twist.  Both my buddy and I are retro guys, so all we have on hand is 55 grain ammo.  He is going to have to do some trading for some 62 grains.  Ahh, the joys of being a gun owner these days !  Anyway, my first a2 build and one that I thought might be interesting to this forum.  Cheers !

Very nice, actually damn near perfect.
And no, he shouldn't have any problems shooting the 55 grain ammo.
It'll be accurate enough that few rifle/shooter combinations would notice any drop in accuracy at all, within 100~150 yards anyway.
Beyond that, well maybe....he'll just have to sight it in and see.

Looks cool. 55gr should shoot just fine. I mostly shoot 55gr out of my 1/7 16" and I have no problems, albeit I have an extra inch on you. But you should be fine.

Quoted:
.......I have an extra inch on you.......

This is not the place for that.....besides, size don't matter.
But, since you're talking inches, I guess it's still "technical".
