Sighted in my new to me Colt Match Target. Did 25 yd sight in with rear sight set at 1 click above 8/3, and tried using just front sight post for elevation. Windage was dead on, but with rear sight set at 1 click above 8/3 and front sight flush, rifle was shooting a foot low at 25 yds. Used all my front sight elevation(down) and still had to go up 11 clicks on rear sight just to get sighted in at 25 yds. Groups were touching after dialing in. Moved out to 100 yds and was able to bring rear sight back down 2 clicks to get the right elevation. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be here? I have sighted in many AR's with A2 sights over the years and have never ran across this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry if I sound stupid.  Haven't had my coffee yet.

Is the front sight blade factory, not the extended type?  Does your rifle have an A2 or F FSB?

If all is normal, and it were mine I'd roll the rear apeture 4 clicks back and readjust so the 3/8 is 4 clicks off the bottom

That would give you your 5 clicks off the bottom for 25.

edited:   1 click off the bottom for 100, 2 clicks off for 50/200~ , 3clicks for 300

I bought this rifle used but everything looks to be factory. I'm gonna take it out again later this week and try again. It is dialed in now but I don't like having the rear sight up in the air just to be sighted in at 100 yds.
