I have a DPMS that I recently placed an ARP 6.8 upper on and I would like to swap out the A2 stock. Will this work? MagPul ACS Assuming that it will work, will this be a tough swap. What tools would be required? Do you guy think that I'm makeing the right choice?
Thanks, M |
| Not a good swap in my opinion. It will work with a new buffer, buffer tube and spring for a carbine. How long is the 6.8 barrel? I shoot mostly 5.56 with AR carbines/rifles and prefer fixed stocks but also own a few carbines with collapsible stocks and they balance real nice. Carbine stock on a rifle length weapon kinda messes up the balance in my opinion. It will work but kinda doesn't make sense to me unless just for looks. As a rule carbine stocks give up a little on consistent cheekweld which I would want if shooting longer range capable 6.8 but magpul says their's is decent. Your coins spend them as you wish. |

This is just the type of response I was looking for.
My 6.8 has a 16” barrel with flash hider. I plan to use the gun for hunting. I good cheek weld is very important but my thinking is that it might be nice adjust the stock depending on clothing and activities like tree climbing. Would you suggest changing it at all? If so to what? Thanks, M |

I love the M4 for in and out of vehicles and CQB, but the A2 rules for long distance and accuracy due to the solid stock and sight radius. I built a Varmint type AR upper and originally planned on using a SOCOM type collapsible stock but instead stuck with the A2 and I am glad. |
