 Fixed my hasty sling.. the way it should have been. 6520 looking sexy as ever. Wish the barrel wasnt too small diameter for the collar. @Subpar is this green similar to the green your M4 came as?  I think it'd need a tad more brown. Just hard to tell from photos. |

It’s tough to describe the color. It’s got green hues, but it’s more of a gray/brown. Kind of shiny too. Maybe like a satan finish paint? I looked at the gunkote colors. This looks pretty close on my phone screen:  @k31user do you recall which Gunkote you used for the M4 cans? |

I’m looking to build a BHD Gordon clone and have a few questions. I’ve read about 15-20 pages of this thread and havnt seen them answered yet. I apologize if this is a rehash of common questions. I don’t know much about this era.
Do I want black or grey finish on the rifle? A1 or A2 profile lower receiver? What’s the thoughts on the current H&R offerings? I was thinking of starting with a complete lower or just grab receiver set, and correcting what’s wrong, use higher quality OG parts where I can and need too. Thanks in advance. |

Colt was historically a mixed bag. Useing what they had on hand if it met certain criteria for that order.
That being said A1 and A2 profile lowers are presumably both correct. Either should be marked big font M16A2, SAFE-SEMI-AUTO as they were cots rifles and not property marked. Grey would be correct for the time frame. H&R just released the correct marked lower in a2 profile, its black though. Grey will be out soon. |

Finally got some lens covers for the aimpoint so I was able to get that painted today. This might be my favorite rifle. Still need a giessele and a flashlight setup. The homemade arms 16a mount turned out perfect.

Here's some pics of that receiver extension for anyone interested. I don't have any old gray stuff. The GM receiver is a Russian Paint one, so it's probably as close as possible. The other buffer tube installed is an LMT, the loose 1/2 painted one is the GB one.

Any places with a Memorial Day sale on with proper-ish lowers in stock? Currently just using a PSA Stealth lower with the bare minimum markings, but as I have the 733 and Gordon uppers for that lower I may as well whip up another one for the Gordon upper and use the PSA for the 733.
Plus, PA has G SSA FCGs for $150, so I need to justify a reason to pick one of those up, haha. Looks like PSA also has them for $150. Im sharing this in this thread because this is the circle i feel would understand my mindset the most.
So went to pick up my Geissele lower from an LGS i haven't been to in a few years. Seen an old bushmaster carry handle carbine. Looking at it the kid behind the counter says. "you like that old junk?" I go, "its the best junk". He goes in the back, brings out a few old colts. Says we have tons of this old colt stuff, doesn't sell in the store so we only sell it on gunbroker. Context: i bought my 6520 from this place a few years ago, it was tucked away behind the counter mostly out of sight. One of the guns he brought out was built 118 units before my 6520. Came from the same agency and was originally bought in the same order as my current one. Except she somewhat salty... boy i about shit. I told him dont clean the skuffs and leave the hand guard on it (mentioned they have THROWN AWAY DOZENS of these and replace them with magpuls or repro car handguards. I said even leave the ronchy ass sling. Hes like man you're wild. And went back and found the most stuffed up colt mag he could and threw it in for free.  Plans. Going to pull the handguard for my m4, chop the barrel and hope that Ron can get a collar spun up for it fingers crossed on that one. Gonna be a while though, im not supposed to be spending money right now because we're about to put money on building a home, so only put down 40%. I cant wait. Hopefully the ATF gets their f1 wait times in order, i have like 6 lowers that need f1s now smh. Question, were A2 uppers ever used prior to going flat top? |

The mounts are $25 + $8 USPS or $10 UPS ground. She said there are about 35-40 left and once these were gone that was it. I only got one but should probably have got two. If y'all want one get it now. |
