I have a few parts, but I think Colt abandoned this idea.  Ever seen a complete upper, or even the piston?

I've seen a 6940P on the EE before that's not in person but...

Colt has made several piston guns over the years starting with the Model 703, as well as the "M5 Carbine." Obviously the 6940P was a production model.

I'm assuming you're talking about the recent, non-monolithic piston uppers that have been floating around and are being discussed on the Colt Industry page.

They were called various things, "Advanced Combat Carbine" (ACC) and I believe there was an APC model without a monolithic upper as well.

They also had a "hybrid" piston design that they used on various models.

The external appearance (and if you really really wanted to make a "clone") would basically be a 6940P gas block on a standard M4A1 with a KAC M4 RAS (probably modified):

That front sight is ugly and Colt should feel bad.

They're around but rare.
There are better piston design out there from a function and aesthetic perspective.

I played with one years ago. Handled it, a Sig 516, LWRC and PWS. I bought the LWRC. The Sig was second choice.

The Colt was the heavest compared to the other. The real truth was I thought the Colt was the ugliest of the four.

Years later I added PWS to collection and it has become my favorite.

Which LWRC did you buy? M6A2?
Have you ever checked out an HK416/MR556?

I bought the M6 SPR model in FDE. I did play with the HK MR556, but they only had the upper. The shop pinned it to a lower and it felt pretty heavy.

I've got a 6940P, I like it but I'm considering moving it...I bought it when Colt was still making them.

if I had wanted a dead end platform, I woulda bought an ACR

Anyway - I like it, it's a later one with the one piece carrier. It's very clean unsuppressed, recoil is identical as near as I can tell. It doesn't feel particularly overgassed or anything to me. I've had it out with XM855, XM193, Wolf Gold and Wolf WPA/Classic and it fed and functioned fine with all of them out of the box.

Easy to clean, and the gas piston setup is actually pretty slick, IMO. Sort of a takeoff on a FAL gas system setup.

Why settle for an overrated and expensive piston rifle. I'd take a LWRC over a HK.

If you find or build one here's the lower you need for it.

I have a Colt 6940 P, and I love mine.  I started with a 6920.  I have had zero troubles with either one.  The 6940 is lighter and more accurate.  Good shooting.

I picked up a Colt stripped NOS piston upper off of GB a while back. Just put my AA kit together. The only thing I noticed was the bushing dropped into place with zero resistance, so I had to red Loc-Tite it in.  The receiver has a pin hole that goes across that area, so I'm not sure how it was originally set up from colt.
