| I managed a short after work 30 min range visit to see how the new rifle runs. I had some hand loads to try and wanted to see how it shoots. The long range was in use so I had to settle with 25yds which is fine given my time. I rip off proven loads (verified by at least 3 sources as not to blow anything up) as my time is tight and I'm not a 1 shot every 5 minute sub moa to the nth shooter. The loads I shot work well in my others so it was an informal comparison. At 25yds you should have a stellar pattern that resembles the one you wish you could shoot at 100. I have some 64gr nosler bonded that shoot wonderfully out of the SL8/G36--they didn't work so well. Next was some SS109 with tac that were not so bad, but today, given current conditions, the clear winner was Hornady SP's with W748--a very small hole. I'm sure I could get the 64gr tuned in, and the 1/8 twist and other nearly variables are endless. The muzzle break is hands down your best friend. Sorry to ramble, but it's a nice rifle. |
