How do I determine which Gen rifle I have? Can anyone tell from this photo?

The lower is gen3 made in 2009 by hogan for poof.
The rail is earlier style pre-MRR. Your should have 2 Allen set screws over the barrel nut holding the wedge block in place. There will also be 3 Allen set screws with plastic tips holding the upper part of the rail onto the upper receiver. This could also be a bridge over model that will have the actual Allen bolts that thread into the upper receiver, but pre MRR type markings. The way to tell is: on the top of the rail over the upper receiver, are there 3 Allen set screws, or 3 Allen bolts? This determines rail generation for that rifles lowers manufacture date. The muzzle brake is the older single baffle. It works and is way less concusion harsh then the 3baffle brake. |

No problem.
Also you can tell the age of the bolt carrier. On top of the carrier right behind the gas piston key, there will be a notch out with 00/00 in it. This is the manufacturing date code. This lower is missing the ambi selector, and the furniture is not factory correct. Further the receiver extension is gray in picture, most poof rifles had vltor buffer tubes that are blacker in color and have the position laser marks on the top rib. The factory furniture should be ergo suregrip and vltor imod stock. The trigger is gray colored in the pic. Is it a timney or a hogan made for poof poof trigger? Timney has 2 set screws in the trigger cassette, and another set screw in the trigger right behind the hammer and forward of the disconnector. Poof has zero set screws. |
