is the color shading on LWRC rifles usally different shades of the same color? i just picked up a new M6 that has been in a guys safe for 3 years, never shot. the color shades don't bother me as much as the gritty trigger . i honestly don't care, but being i don't know as much as much as i should about LWRC, i figured i would ask. the color is a burnt bronze kind of color, my wife actually pointed it out. on a differnt note, i really like the way the hand guards come apart to get to the piston, pretty slick. really stoked running across a great buy and a super nice rifle

Quoted: +1, in reference to the trigger. Change it out to Geissele SSA or SSA-E, you'll be glad you did. Quoted: Quoted: Probably one of the older anodized ones. +1, in reference to the trigger. Change it out to Geissele SSA or SSA-E, you'll be glad you did. I like SD-C's

If it's one of the older anodized MRE (kind of a greenish bronzish color), and you ever want to get rid of it, or even just the lower... I got an MRE upper on Gunbroker a while back, and have been trying to get a lower to go with it for a while. ![]() What you see in yours is what caused them to stop doing that color at all. The anodizing was REALLY hard to keep a consistent color on, from part to part, particularly on the rails, and it was either customers bitching about the difference in exact shade, or a real asspain experience trying to sort through anodized parts to match them up as best they could. Neither option was particularly good, so they ditched colored anodizing in favor of Cerakote. That being said, I always dug the color, even with the mismatches, and I have a saved, constantly running search on Gunbroker for "LWRC MRE", but haven't had a lot of luck getting more of it. |

+1 on what the others said, it is indeed the more scarce / rare anodized ones. Anodizing does vary from batch to batch and unless the parts for example upper, lower, and rail pieces, etc etc were all dipped in at once or the sametime the shades will always vary. It is impossible to have everything all one uniformed color unless its done the way I described above.
On another note I remember some months ago seeing a PSD upper on G.B. that was the earlier burnt bronze anodized color. I think it could have been a 6.8 PSD, can't quite recall as it was sometime ago. |

It's not just batch to batch, either. Often, they use a different aluminum alloy for the rail than the receivers, and that can also cause shade variation. Quoted:

On a microscopic level there are always going to be differences in the surfaces, causing the anodizing to look slightly different on different parts. Ever seen multiple Geissele sand anodized SMR rails next to each other? Rarely are there 2 that match perfectly. |
| I just got an SL that has an anodized lower--looks odd to me, and an IC that has a nice finish, but the barrel and flash hider are two different tones and shiney. So for the money I'm not so hot on the finish. The important stuff like function and solidness are just fine however. |
