Bought another Colt 6940p this morning, my dealer got it yesterday. It never hurts to have a spare, love these rifles. I bought one earlier this year, and this gun is 42 apart from today's purchase, My first gun barrel date is 1/12, new gun is 4/13, serial numbers are 42 apart. I have not seen another anywhere.

I'm really thinking of picking one of these up.  Do your rifles have the newer one piece BCG or the two piece (separate gas key)?

Love to see some pics!

Awesome thanks!  I just put one of these on order.  My first piston AR.  Now one more question, is the inside of the carrier where the bolt rides chromed or phosphate?

Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to answer all of my questions. I won't be able to play with mine for about a month, but I can't wait!!!

My LE6940P was one of the first produced with a one piece bcg & it is chromed lined inside where the bolt rings slide. Barrel dated 12/12. Since I was the first to get the new design & post on arf.com about the new design one piece bcg in December 2012. So to have one stamped 1/12 with a one piece bcg is very odd.

So you have one that was manufactured in January 2012 with the one piece bcg?
After I purchased the LE6940P in December with the one piece bcg I sold mine that was marked may 2012 & it was the two piece bcg

It is odd, my first gun, barrel dated 01/12, serial number is LPOO218X, new gun is barrel dated 04/13, serial number is LPOO214X, 42 guns apart. The 218 gun has an earlier barrel date, where 214 gun has the later barrel date. Both bolt carriers are the same, maybe it was sent back and upgraded to new style carrier, it was new, unfired on my dealers rack. I did not get the blue packing bag, but the mag bag is dated 10/12. What was your serial number?

Ok, one more question

Is there a tube running from the FSP to the receiver that the piston rides in, or is it open?  Too hard to tell with the pics posted on the internet.

Thanks again!
