I'm pretty new to all of this "ar stuff" but I've got a couple old fashioned "non-piston" rifles. I've noticed that on some of the piston rifles that the gas is adjustable. Has anyone been successful shooting reduced loads? I have a favorite load using Blue Dot that is very accurate out of my bolt guns and I'm trying to figure out how to shoot them in semi-auto, not single shot in an AR. I'm trying to basically end up with a very accurate slightly more powerful than 22 magnum semi-auto rifle with less noise, muzzle blast, etc.

Buy a S&W M&P15-22 carbine in .22LR or a subcaliber insert for your existing rifle.  Messing with port pressures will take lots of experimentation and the chances of mixing your "slow" and normal loads is high (for me, anyway!).

I amuse you know how to reload first. good. Best thing to do is break out your reloading  books and  just work up some loads and see what you like and what works for you.  But for a better response i would post over int the reloading section and not here.  And some more incite on what AR's u have

Thanks, but I already have a Smith & Wesson 15-22 and I have a couple of 22 mag semi-auto's. I'm looking for something that is a little more powerful than a 22 Magnum and a lot more accurate.
