Picked up a 516 recently and took it out for the first time today. I was somewhat concerned as I had read a couple of recent posts related to FTF etc. and guns requiring warranty work out of the box.
I had zero issues, gas valve in "normal" and everything I shot was 55 gr .223 not 5.56. It devoured everything I loaded into the mags including some 55 gr soft points i.e. exposed lead tips and brass ejected in a very consistent location. New to the AR world but I like this gun!

Welcome to the world of the AR! 
I too have a SIG 516 (2nd generation) and had no issues with it as well. Eats all it's fed and begs for more. And the most accurate AR I've owned to date.
