I purchased a Heavy anti tilt buffer Put it in and Noticed that the take down pin was really easy to push, then when I cocked the gun ( it was tilted to the right a little) the take down pin slid out. Not all the way out the spring stops it. Any idea why this would happen? all I changed was the Buffer and spring, everything else is the same, the upper and lower fit together the same????
thanks James |
| I did a few days ago, but after that the take down pin was still tight and normal, I think it has to be in there because the take down pin will not come all the way out. It stops at the end. When I did have the stock off it fell out and the pin would fall out completely. the spring that came with the buffer is longer but the top and bottom still fit together well |

There is a spring and a detent in a hole under the stock. The detent will keep the takedown pin from falling out sometimes.
Tap the buttstock pretty solidly on the floor a couple times, this may dislodge the detent and the takedown pin will come out. If you had the stock off the spring came out most likely as it is under pressure and held in by the stock. This is about the only cause I can think of for the problem you a describing. |
| I just Triple Checked to Confirm, the Spring is In there no Doubt about it, When I screwed the stock and plate that hold it in stayed in but as soon as i tilted the gun the detent pin came out easily, and sure enough I could take the take down pin all the way out , it wouldnt slide out so its in there. No idea what could be causing this I returned everything to stock...same thing pin still is easy to push but wont fall all the way out. and if i put presure on top of the top rail it the takedown slides right out. the guy who sold me the buffer has no idea. Only thing I can think of is if there was something else Else in the small hole in the stock that put extra pressure on the detent spring that fell out too? |

The spring that goes in the hole after the detent pin should stick out of the lower receiver a quarter inch or maybe a bit more. It is compressed when you tighten the stock down thus putting pressure on the detent pin.
So yours still has the detent pin in the hole and the spring in behind the detent pin that sticks out of the lower receiver, correct? If so I'm kinda at a loss, the spring should be putting pressure on the detent pin. |

Yes..but the spring does not stick out quarter of an inch...maybe an eight if that and can pretty much be pushed flush, just ordered a few more springs and a new pin just in case thanks for you help. not sure how it could have happened I am Using all the same springs and parts that worked fine before I took it apart
Thanks ! |
