I can't decide on a Adams Arms complete rifle, of going with a Stag. Does any one have any experience with the Adams Arms rifle? Most all the reviews I find are for there drop in piston system. I have read nothing but good about the Stag piston system, but I like the idea of the 1x7 twist barrel of the Adams. Any help would be great, my budget is only around a 1000 bucks or so, leaving these two rifles as my best choice I think. Thanks

I have the Adams Arms Midlength Tactical Elite on a Mega lower. I have nothing but good things to say about it. It eats any ammo I put through it. Looks great too. You looking to spend $1000 on the upper or on the whole rifle? My upper was about $900.

Thanks. I'm looking at the Adams Arms mid base rifle that's on sale right now for 950. I have about 1100 for the whole rifle, I have optics already. I was ready to pull the trigger on the Adams, then last night I read some recent reviews at midway.com about recent uppers people have got have been nothing but problems, and how the quality has gone down hill with Adams Arms. I do realize you can't judge over a few reviews though, thought I would try here.

They might have stretched themselves thin trying to fill orders, no excuse but that might be the reason. |
There seem to be hundreds of companies making Piston ARs now. Of the two you mentioned, I would definitely buy the Stag Arms. They have a solid reputation. I have several friends that have Stags (all are DI not Piston) and they are just as accurate out to 300m as my Colt M4 or Bushmaster M6. Also, the ammo you use should be a big factor in which to buy based on the barrel. The 1/7 twist barrel was designed to maximize the 5.56x45mm M855 62g and other Army Ammo for the M16A2 and M4 variants. The 1/9 twist barrel on the Stag will be better for a multitude of non-military ammo. Good hunting.
I have an AA and love it. I also have a HOGAN and LOVE it! My AA is a great upper, no complaints. My Hogan drives tacks. It's a lot more money, but you get what you pay for these days.
