My LGS has a new POF P415 w/14.5" fluted bbl and I've been thinking about trading in an FAL Para w/16.25" bbl for it. These seem to be a high-end AR but I rarely read much about POF rifles on here. Why is that? I like the FAL but never seem to shoot it. Already own a Colt Commando and it would be nice to own two AR's in the same caliber and be able to use same mags, accessories, etc.
Any advice or input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Clint

I have one of there uppers mounted to a pre ban Bushmaster lower, it by far is my most reliable AR I  have and of the highest quality. I have fed mine the shittiest / dirtiest Russian steel cased ammo and never a weapon related issue, no failures. I did tear the rim off the steel case twice causing it no to eject, but that was the ammo (case failure). Clean up is super quick because of the piston system and POF used a nickel boride coating on all of the interior and internal parts of the weapon. To do a field clean take the bolt out wipe it down and slap it back in, don't even need lube on em. I'd seriously consider it POF is the shit

I had a POF upper and I believe at the time, it was a POF 416.  Something about the carrier or barrel length which distinguished the variant as a 416 vs. 415.  It was great!  I traded the upper for a Chris Butler built AK103 clone.  Happy with the trade at the time, but wish I had the upper back.

416 if I'm not mistaken has the FA bolt carrier, the 415 semi.

I thought the P416 is select-fire and the 415 is semi-auto. Both rifles come with a M16-style carrier,right?

ETA: I traded for a nice P415 today.

I purchased a POF 415 over a year and six months ago, I was a skeptic. DI has always seemed the ain't broke don't fix it choice, I spent ten years as an army infantrymen, carrying various m16 rifles without complaint. I have owned colts, and bushmasters and and loved them dearly. I found a great deal on a base model P-415 at a local firearms dealer and decided to take the piston leap. I could not be more satisfied. The NP3 coating, the perfection of fit, the ergonomics, and the accuracy have been head and shoulders above anything I have encountered before. I have put this weapon system through hell and back. Never a weapon caused malfunction in this rifle and I have never been disappointed with performance or accuracy. I took POF's challenge to run the system sans lubrication, for 1000 rounds it performed flawlessly. Weekend hunting trips, three gun competitions, "field maneuvers" with army buddies, this firearm has done them all. I've estimated over 4000 rounds on the low end, and she keeps on plinking.

POF is worth the money.  I just built one from parts from gunbroker.  By far the best ar I have ever shot.

I have a POF & I have been very happy with it. Granted I only have a lil over 1,200 rounds through it. I also tried running it without lube. It would jam. Run 1 drop of slip ewl smeared around the bolt, no problems.

You will regret trading your FAL on anything other than another FAL. The POF is a great rifle but FALs are something special. Every person that I met that had an FAL then got rid of it regrets it. Again this isn't a hit on the POF, its more of an observation I have made about FALs.

This is my first POF, P-415-15-12sx-223, I have ran the crappiest ammo thru this with not jams or stovepipes, the best AR I have ever shot!

This is my current build, P-416 lower (has the full auto selector) and engraved for a SBR, I am putting a 14.5 upper on it until I get the ATF stamp!

Can you ever have too many POF's?

+1 on the POF eating everything you feed it. I ran 1k of Wolf steel cased polymer coated through mine and only had two ammo related failures, the rim on the casing that the extractor grabs broke off. Looked almost like the casing was cast by the way it broke.

I've owned five FAL's,one rifle, one carbine, and three paras. Just never did get that excited about them. I've been wanting a POF for a long time.
Who knows,I might end up with another FAL in the future, though.
