I am new to Ar's and have a M&p lower with a rock river 2 stage trigger and a AA upper carbine, my question is clean or dont clean? I have been told by AA they have at least 3000 rounds through there weapon with no cleaning or lube, What do you guys do...

i personally remove the op rod/piston and wipe down with CLP, reinstall and rock on. a quick bore snake for the barrel, so far that's what i have done and have had zero failures

I clean everything until it's spotless when I know I'm not going to use it for a while.

The bolt carrier doesn't need a whole lot of attention, just a wipe down and re-lube.  I still take it apart completely including taking off the extractor.  I do not take out the ejector though.

Inside the upper can get a little dirty from brass shavings and what not.  I just get in there with some solvent on a q-tip and wipe everything down and re-lube.

I use solvent and an AP brush to get the carbon off the gas block and piston parts as well as the compensator.

As for the barrel, I run a solvent patch through then a run a bore brush down it 10 times from breach to muzzle.  Then I patch it dry using a new patch every two runs down the barrel.  I just fold the patch the other way so there's clean contact down the bore.  Then I run an oiled patch down the barrel and patch it dry.  If I'm going to store the rifle and not shoot it, I'll run another oiled patch down the barrel.  I run a dry patch through when I bring the rifle out to the range again.

Inside the lower doesn't get that dirty.  You can wipe it up with a q-tip if you'd like.  I usually wipe off the buffer and spring as well.

It may sound like a lot of work, but it's way faster than cleaning a DI AR.

I understand that you can run these rifles a long time without cleaning or lube, but you also don't have to change your underwear on a daily basis.

I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready.

I put it down and shoot two rounds from my DI and clean for hours.  Oops did I just type that?

not to change the subject, but I ran across an AA upper evolution ultralite and was wondering how good AA uppers are.

The ultra-light is on my short list. I have 3 AA uppers and no problems with them

Thats what i figured. And why i e-mailed them about it first. I didn't want to be one of those guys that comes on here bitching and posting pics of broken shit before even contacting them. I have had only good stuff to say about the upper and AA's.
