I love the way this rifle shoots and handles. Accurate. I have prefered it over my other DI's lately.

I have had my LWRC M6A3 DMR for over a year now and finally decided to clean it. Well I did a good job cleaning it after aproximately 1000 rounds. Wasn't that bad at all.

I followed the instructions and they mentioned the spring cup would set flush against the barrel nut. No problem. Its just I'm questioning how it seats. The spring cup is angled up ever so slightly so as its not perfectly in line with the piston assembly. (almost dont see it unless you really look at it from the side) It is seated as flush as you can get to the barrel nut. I pulled back on the assembly and it looks like nothing would bind.
I know may be over cautious, but wanted to know others experience. This is my fav rifle right now and use it in my local 3 gun matches.
Is this normal or have I re-installed it wrong ? Thanks

Mine sits straight. I could not say if it is normal or not. Have you tried contacting LWRC or asking in their forum? They have great customer service.

Haven't attempted to clean my piston yet, so I don't know. Call up LWRC or ask them on the forum, they'll help you out.

Just removed my top rail and it looks just like you described....and it's been running just fine.

Thats what I needed to know, attention to detail.
this LWRC rifle is a sweet shooter and will drive a tack all day @100 better than 1 MOA with my hand loaded 55gr NBT...
So i didn't want to mess up a good thing.

Thanks

Welcome!  Mine too is a tack driver...I'm not the best shooter in the world, but I was able to consistently keep 5 round groups in about .75" with decent optics.  A little bigger with the eoTech, but that just proves its the shooter.

I like my M6A2 so much, I'm waiting on an ordered M6SL...can't wait!

I believe we're good to go. Probably being over cautious since it was my first time to take down the piston for cleaning. The gas piston system is fairly new to me.
But I like it a lot... The only thing again the only thing I could say that might be perceived as negative comment is my M6A3 DMR rifle is on the heavy side as compared to my Colt LE carbines 6920, 6721.

My DMRs spring cup is exactly the way the OP described. Runs great so I guess it is ok. Accurate as all get out, at 100 yards it delivers same hole performance regularly and I couldn't be happier.

This is a target at the 100 yard range. The large one hole group is I believe 6 shots.

LWRC M6A3 DMR  w/ TA31 M4 RCO ACOG
.223 Federal 55gr value pack factory loads. I didn't bother adjusting dope because I normally use my hand loads for 100 yds and out. Yes, I have had the opportunity to reach out to about 500 yards while participating in local 3 Gun Fun. On a side note you can get this with your Colt LE6920 or LE6721 DI's @ 100 yds. as well.

It gets better with my home made rounds.

Not wanting to get away from the original intent of the thread.
Try some 55gr Nolsler Ballistic Tips and some H335 and of course reference a good hand loading manual for specific data.

Thanks for everyones feedback.

My M6A2's spring cup sits slightly tilted up as well.  I've had mine since 2008, and I've never had an issue.  I did change the spring and spring cup at 5K rounds per LWRC's instructions last year.  New spring cup does the same upward tilt.
