I meant to post this in the piston forum not pistol
Finally got a LMT CQB MRP upper and I noticed that the bold assembly does not have gas rings, which make sense. Question to the masses is, can I use a bolt assembly with gas rings in a piton rig, or will that cause issues? I don't think it will, but want to ask. The reason I ask is that I want to get one spare bolt assembly for my DI and piston AR. Also, what bolt assembly would you recommend? |
| If you add gas rings you are creating drag in the action during the firing cycle. Pistons are not intended to be used with gas rings, so best advice is not to use them. I'm pretty sure I remember someone posting about having issues with an Adams kit that was caused by leaving the gas rings on. If you are adding a piston kit, use your factory bolt assembly, unless there is something wrong with it, or you want to upgrade to a chromed model or whatever. There are a lot of great bolts that people on here will recommend, but I haven't used a lot of them, so I'll leave those recommendations to those who have. |
