| I am selling my stag model 1 so I can upgrade to a piston AR. I was thinking about the sig 516 but after reading some bad reviews im having doubts. I would like to stay as close to a grand as possible. I am very mechanically inclined but not a gunsmith. So Im debating whether I should attempt a build or just buy one, any ideas? Thanks |
| If building means buying a complete lower and a complete upper and slapping them together, then building is fine. If you're gonna do a from scratch build, it may end up costing you more for the tools like vise, action block, barrel wrench, torque wrench, punches and hammers, etc... |

I spent about $750 on building a x39 upper from scratch. Shipping was the big killer because nobody had all the components in one site. I probably could have bought an assembled piston upper for less.

Ive been doing some research and I think im going to go with the Adams Arms upper and Im still undecided on the lower. I wish the Sig 516 had good reviews, its exactly what i want.
