Does anyone know if the Adams arms system is compatable with the Midwest Industries SS Series handguards? (http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=267)
I want a free float handguard, but dont want rails that im not going to use. Any ideas? Semper Fi! |

Yes it will work. Yes it will require a little mechanical knowledge on your part. Check my posting on this page. I did contact Adams Arms last week and they did tell me that the MI SS series barrel nut is too thick.
However, AzizaVFR is on to something that will work. I bet a dremel tool and a steady hand could carve out a canal that could get it to work, since I do not have the tools. Low-tech DIY. That beats having to buy a new free floating handguard if I decide to get another Adams Arms piston kit. By the way AzizaVFR, why did you need to trim the drive rod? I have installed a Adams Arms kit before and I simply spaced the gas block from the sleeve about two business cards thick away (the guy at Adams Arms suggested that easy method over the phone) and that worked fine. Wouldn't that be best or were you wanting to have the gas block to be up against the handguard and much as possible, just for the hell of it? |
