I guess it could apply to any piston driven AR, but I was wondering if something like this could be done to a 9mm platform?

I don't particularly like the buffer tube sticking out on traditional AR pistols. I saw some videos from RRA stating that they were planning on developing different calibers for the PDS...just curious to know if anyone has heard anything recently?

Thanks.

It COULD be done...blowback may actually be harder than gas in this configuration, but there isn't any reason that we couldn't eventually do something in 9mm that's similar to the PDS,,,it just wouldn't necessarily need the piston.

Yeah, blowback requires high bolt mass, so unless you build a tungsten bolt or use something similarly dense, it will give you a very violent cycle.

Now if you used a very short gas system with a piston basically IN the barrel nut, you could potentially work something out with a locking bolt...

I've done all kinds of brainstorming in this area with my bufferless pistols and gas-op .45 AR...
