I am hearing a lot of mixed thoughts on the company, some say great, some say they would never deal with them again.
I am wondering what people who actually own their firearms have to say about them. I have tried searching the topic, but there is not really a good discussion about it, just people bickering back and fourth about them. I am also wondering with them being a new company with a more radical design, what the chances are that they might go under. I am going to assume that if they go under, for some reason, that finding replacement parts would be very difficult and costly. |
| I bought my POF 16" 308 from Rainer arms in March of this year. When I took it out for thr first time I had mutiple FTF on each mag I used. I was using PMAGS. I took it back to Rainer arms and they confirmed my problem. They sent it back to POF on there dime and I had it back in my hands in a week. POF changed the bolt and bolt carrier. I have not had any more problems with it. It is very accurate and really easy to clean. I enjoy shooting it and do not regret my choice in getting one. I had looked at many semi 308's and POF was my choice. KAC would have been my 1st choice, but the price was to much for me. |
| I have the 415 Recon and it's been absolutely fantastic. Accuracy has been great, The break does make a pretty good crack and a lot of people comment about it when running it at the range, mostly in matches. So far I've not had a FTF or any other technical issue with the gun and I'm very happy. You'll find a lot of people that either love it or hate it because of X, Y or Z reason. Yes the design is pretty different from the other piston guns out there. The irony is that most of the opinions I get from people are all second and third hand anecdotals at best. I'm quite happy with it and I have no complaints about it at all. |
| no problems at all with my recon. I have retrofitted 3 upgrades, the adams arms bolt spring, the roller cam pin and the enhanced POF buffer tube. I had not had a problem with any carrier tilt prior to the upgrades, I just wanted to be ahead of any possible issues. No FTF, easy to clean and a very sharp looking stick. I still am mixed on the rail setup. I have a Noveske Vltor VIS that I actually prefer to the POF system, just easier to work with. I have never had a bad experience with customer service and they have always been easy to talk to and work with. When you hear complaints about POF customer service, try and call HK! |
| I have the P-416 12.5" and have had it since '08. I haven't had any problems with mine either and is quite amazing with how accurate it is. Most of the problems were from the past and there C.S. is alot better now also. There product is great and I don't really see them going anywhere as far as what was said in the post above about them going out of business. |

This was my reply to a similar question from this thread.
I have no experience with the SR-556C, but I stand behind my POF 100%. You will find a lot of POF haters here, and I don't know why. I don't keep an exact round count, but if I had to guess based simply on the amount of ammo I've purchased, my POF just hit 2k with no malfunctions that can be attributed to the gun. I just ran a two day tactical carbine course and put about 700 rounds through it with the only problems coming from me (a mag that I did not seat properly causing a failure to feed, and once when firing from urban prone my pile of brass grew to the point it was interfering with ejection and a casing bounced back into the chamber). The best part was that I didn't clean the gun once so I could show a buddy how clean it ran, and after the 700 rounds the only contamination in the chamber was paint flakes from the green tip ammo. I have a 415-16-11SX-223, they were calling it a Recce rifle when I bought it; it's a simple, robust, reliable, and accurate gun, I'd buy another but I don't need two. One thing to consider with a POF is the raised rail, some people like it many don't, I like it. |
| I have a 16" POF with a Gen.III lower. EoTech 552 + EoTech 4x(w/FTS mount). Wilson Combat flip up BUIS. Vortex flash hider. Magpul Miad Grip. HK E1 stock. RRA Nat'l Match 2 stage Trigger. Blue Force Gear Redi Mag. Surefire M910 with TNVC Cree conversion head. Surefire ladder rail covers(very comfortable and add zero to girth).Great product. No Issues at all. Fit and finish is great and durable. Customer service is wonderful too. I had a question or two about the upper a few years ago and I called Chris. He answered the phone and we 'talked'. He didn't rush me, and genuinely thanked me for the call and buying the product...that's unparalled. |

Quoted: I am going to assume that if they go under, for some reason, that finding replacement parts would be very difficult and costly. Even though OP disappeared, I'm going to address this anyway. Your biggest concerns for replacement parts are the ones that are "unique" to the POF. If I recall correctly those are: Bolt Bolt Carrier Piston Op Rod Gas Plug Now, the Piston and Op Rod aren't very complicated, and in the event of a POF Bellyup, they could probably very easily be replicated by a qualified machine shop. The gas plug might be a little more difficult, but since it's "FAL-Style" it may not be as difficult as you think. Besides, what's going to break on your *gas plug*. And oh yeah, those parts are available as spares. Same thing for the bolt, it's available from POF now, so if you're concerned, buy some spares now. So we're left with bolt carrier. Man, I don't know what to tell you there. I guess if your bolt carrier shits itself you're out of luck, although again, it could probably be reproduced by a competent machine shop as, as far as I can tell, it's not so different in design from, say, a LR308 bolt carrier...save for the op rod strike plate of course. Apart from that the fire control parts are standard AR, as is most of the lower parts. (although not the front pivot pin, again available from POF right now as a spare.) So, I'm not sure what other replacement parts one would require that aren't available now. But, you know, just sayin'. |
| I have a 415 Recon and absolutely love it. It is scarey accurate. I reload a couple of nice varmint rounds for it and it is sweet. I have a Burris XTR-14 on it right now and it is really nice as well. I have had no issues with mine and I have about 500 rounds down the tube. Did I mention how accurate it was?? HAHAHAHA |

Best Rifle I own.
Usually POF haters, are people who can't afford one and don't want to think less of there generic DI they own. It is a superb rifle, and everyone I know who owns one absolutely loves it. If you ever have an Issue, Frank and the guys at POF will fix it pronto. They are great people. |

They are great people. probably comments from piston owners like the one in bold that makes them haters. I have a buddy with a POF and he had nothing but trouble with it. Not only would it jam but it got stuck and could not be opened. POF was good about it though. They fixed it |
| I have a POF .223 and .308. I love them both. They are the best AR's I have ever owned. I have had LMT, RRA, Bushmaster, Aramalite, and Spikes in .223 and I have had DPMS andPOF in .308. POF's customer service has been OUTSTANDING to me. I sent min in for a minor repair and the upgrade the Entire BCG for free. They have been great guys to deal with. |
