well I got the email saying the ops fz coated version is coming in august, one problem i have the ops already, so I contact fail zero and they will not coat my carrier and piston parts since they have a contract to do em for ops, contact ops to see if they will do a trade in trade up thing and no dice, wish I knew they were going with the fz coating I would have held off on my purchase of the ops kit (it does work great though) would have been nice to have it all coated since i already run some of the fz coated parts in my m4

i agree,  I have close to 5k rounds through mine and have not had the slightest hiccup.    If your buying another one and the price was somewhat closer then no harm, but not worth eating a whole kit just for the upgrade.

well I am in a salt water enviroment and this is my personaly owned patrol rifle the fz would be nice to ward off salt water corrosion

I also bought an early version. So I just had it NP3'd. Fail zero is more marketing than anything.

I just did the carrier and bolt and small parts. After talking to Osprey that's all they said was needed. And I didn't feel like taking the OP rod apart since I've got it under a free floater. I think the price  is $190. Call them and find out. I've been using this finish for over 20 years on handguns and standard AR DI systems and have had no problems. Still look like new. Fail zero is more marketing than anything.

well I weighed it out and decided with my leo discount it would be worth it to buy the upgraded kit and sell off the standard one

the new one showed up today got it installed and it is super slick, I had polished and lubed the the old carrier but this one dry in a dry reciever moves super smooth almost like it glides, i did notice the rear of this bolt carrier is machined different, is has a longer taper at the end, more then the old one, my guess is to be sure there is no problem catching on the buffer tube

the 2 problems I have found is I had a heck of a bad time trying to knock out the solid pin in the gas block to remove the old piston cup, and I have what might be fitment issues with the new op rod so I am waiting on a call back from corey to discuss it, the one I took out was a perfect fit

well after looking at it with fresh eyes this morning i noticed the op rod was rubbing slightly on the barrel nut, no idea why since the kit i removed was fine but a very very slight adjustment of the nut and it is good to go now.

I also noticed this kit does not have the 1/16" of play like the other did(as discribed in the instructions) it is more like 1/32" of play or less just enough to let the bcg go into full battery and leave a tiny bit of play in the op rod
