| Im interested in picking up a piston upper and I would like to know which carrier systems don't suffer from carrier tilt? |

There are a bunch of guys on here who own a Ruger SR556 and have had no issues. Their carrier is designed to prevent or minimize it, as are most piston system carriers. You can even buy an anti-cant buffer if you are concerned and it makes you sleep better. Worst case with most systems is that you may get minor finish wear that levels off and stops quickly, with zero functional impact. Scope the Ruger website for the official description. I have 1000+ rounds through mine with no failures, and some others have shot theirs way more than that.

I have a CMMG and started to document the wear I have ( with photos) , well it is truely nothing to worry about, I have stopped. I have 500 rds through it and only 3 malfunctions! <––-from the first magazine i was using with it was brand new). It left itty-bitty little aluminum chips in the reciever for the first 1-250/300 rds. after that nothing the beginning of the buffer tube is scrapped a little. boo-hoo. And nothing near the detent pin at all. As someone on the forum stated b4 it is a $20 part that is easy to replace if ever needed.
PS. My CMMG rocks *(@#& the haters |

Im interested in picking up a piston upper and I would like to know which carrier systems don't suffer from carrier tilt? Seems like you're getting a lot of suggestions for retrofits and complete rifles. If you're looking for a complete upper, I wouldn't worry about tilt. All the top selling manufacturers have engineered out their tilt issues over the years. There's quite a bit to chose from these days. I'm sure you'll find one with features you like over the rest. Good luck! Also, don't forget to get a POF roller cam and an AA bolt spring. |
