In general terms of reliability and durability, how does the PWS DC series stack up against LMT, POF, and LWRC? I'm trying to avoid a "hobby gun" and I just haven't heard enough about these to know. Do the rail QD sling sockets have anti-rotation? Any other info or feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I recently bought a DC-12 and have been running it on a full-auto lower to wring out the bugs.  I'm at 350 rounds as of this afternoon on mostly full-auto.    My goal is to get to 500 rounds before I pull the upper, bolt, etc apart for cleaning.  If I note nothing strange or crazy going on I'll clean and re-lube everything and then continue for another 500 rounds.  I want to get at least 1,000 trouble-free rounds fired before I go through the Form 1 and SBR it.  No.  The full-auto lower isn't mine!

I've got nothing to report out of the ordinary yet.  The upper runs fine with M193, WOLF, Federal 62gr SP and 69gr match ammo loaded with 24.5gr of Varget.  I've not shot on paper yet but will give that a whirl tomorrow.

I do note that the top rail surface gets surprisingly hot.  It only makes sense that it does since this is what the gas block's attached to and that's where the piston runs.

The barrel looks like it's bolted on with a large castle nut.  The rail surfaces are attached to the barrel nut and the gas block.  Whether or not there's anything built into the design to keep everything from coming unscrewed I cannot answer.  Hopefully Addax Tactical can pipe up with that information.

So far, I really like it!

While not the DC12, I run a PWS Diablo. I've currently got about 1.5k rounds through it and it runs like an absolute champ. No carrier tilt, cam pin drag or anything.

Its my new favorite weapon!

I have about 600 rounds through my DC 12. No problems.

Yes, the QD sockets are anti-rotation.

I've lost count now but I'm at somewhere in the area of 800 rounds through my DC-12 upper.  Most of that has been full-auto.  Much of the light grease I applied to the bolt rails has worn off but there's still grease along the raceways in the upper receiver.  The grease I applied to the bolt cam and carrier is still present

The chamber and barrel extension is dark and sooty and there are some brass flakes inside the upper and bolt carrier but the upper itself is relatively clean.  I was going to pull everything apart and clean and oil the assembly at 500 rounds but I think I'll run another 200 rounds of so through the system before I give it some maintenance.

Looks like the upper is going to be worth the $200 SBR stamp!

I just bought a DC-7 (pre-Diablo) and have had one FTF in about 300 rounds. I do notice carrier tilt but don't think this is really going to be much of a problem. The upper rail did get incredibly hot, so I replaced my BUIS with Troy flip-up's over the Magpul sights I was running. The only concern I have at this point is that rounds eject at 2 o'clock and don't hit the deflector, which may be an indicator that I have a weak extractor spring. I'll be popping in an O ring to see if that changes anything.

I did several full-auto mag dumps with a Magpul front sight attached to the rail.  The front sight doesn't seem to have suffered any ill effects.

Good to know. I may put them back on but had heard of Magpuls melting.

ETA: this is from Magpul's site: NOTE: Cannot be mounted to a railed gas block due to excess heat issues. Front MBUS must be mounted to a railed fore end on the same plane as the receiver rail.

Pacs,

Would you, or another DC-12 owner, mind doing me a favor? Could you weigh the upper, without optics, and let me know what it comes in as. The PWS website says 6 pounds and that seems really heavy.

thanks.

According to my highly accurate and scientific bathroom scale, the upper with rail covers and BUIS weights about five pounds.
