Got my Brownells email the other day with the CMMG piston kit for $299. Anybody try this one? I saw CMMG gas piston uppers mentioned here but didn't see the kit mentioned. CMMG Piston Kit

I got the same email. What's the diff between this kit and the cheaper drop in kit? I see this kit recommends gunsmith installation in the small print.

It might be best just to contact CMMG direct and ask them the question.

Is your kit's gasblock aluminum or steel?

Bought the left handed version of the kit directly from CMMG a few weeks ago. They have a thread on here in the normal ar section somewhere about them.

Haven't had a chance to really take it out yet. Going to try to go out later in the week. Mine is installed on my stag 6.8 upper.

My kit is digital, all I got is an email from Brownells announcing the product. I just wanted to know if anybody had one or any info good or bad.

I see there are two kits from CMMG on Brownell's website.  One is $100 more, and I believe it is the newest model with a steel gasblock, while the older one is the cheaper, with an aluminum gasblock. Maybe CMMG can tell us?

That is the new CMMG Piston Conversion Kit with their newly designed steel gas block.

I have a Carbine and Mid-Length kit in my shop for evaluation, and I have to say, I really like the new CMMG kit over the previous one they offered with the Aluminum Gas Block.

If you look at the specs on that site, it says anodized aluminum gas block.  eta: It's always possible that Brownell's description is wrong.

"SPECS: Piston Tube, Bolt, Bolt Carrier, Handguard Retainer Cap – Steel, black oxide finish. Piston – Steel, hard-chromed. Gas Block – Aluminum, hardcoat anodized, matte black. Handguard – Reinforced polymer composite, black. Kit contains preassembled piston assembly, gas block, bolt, bolt carrier, handguard, handguard retainer, mounting hardware, and installation instructions. Fits semi-auto and burst/full-auto rifles with carbine-length gas system and .750” O.D. barrel. Gunsmith installation recommended. "

The latest version is a one piece steel block and the older is the two piece aluminum.

Brownells got the description wrong.

The picture and price is correct for the new CMMG Kit with the Steel Gas Block, but the listed out the incorrect specs.
