I like the functionality of the larger head and .030 longer pin but it's too much bling for me, fortunately for me they make it in BLACK. |

There is a process where titanium can be made black. Unfortunately it is secret formula that some jewelry maker controls. Or at least they did a year ago when I searched for a way of turning titanium black. I work in ti quite often and ti pins will work just fine there is no reason to fear galling as nothing is moving around the pins with any frequency. |

Most colors by anodizing. No big secrets, but some colors require a lot of voltage. I can probably find out more from some people who sell Ti for architectural uses.
http://www.titaniumfinishing.com/page09.html I know the American Express Black Centurion card (its Commercially pure titanium) is black anodized, then laser etched for the lettering and scrollwork. It was interesting to see - The back is milled out for the magnetic strip as well as a little pocket for some sort of chip or RFID tag. I don't know who anodized it, but I do know who made the titanium but the only one I've ever seen was just the sample from the company. Some time back I helped the architectural people get a dark matt surface finish for titanium roof panels for a home near boston. That was simple as we just had the coils grit blasted. The roof had to be non reflective since it was not far from the airport, or approaches. I have heard that another gun manufacturer was able to get a near black on titanium parts by accidentally heat treating Ti in I think a nitrous atmosphere (i don't think straight N2). I will see about making some other contacts to see if the person who was involved in that can say more. And I work with titanium every day. |

Anyone have a weight on the takedown pins? Lighter than the V7 set? Also, any weight savings on the detents and springs? 3 oz http://www.revolvr.com/new-bad-enhanced-pin-set-titanium.html |
