Got the collapsable stock and cheek piece a while ago. Stock is nice... The plastic feels cheap but thats due to its softness which I rather like. Im used to a real hard plastic, so the... I want to say rubbery plastic was nice. However, that same plastic used for the cheek piece seems insuffecient. Without much force, the support will deform quite a bit more of less having your cheek not 1/4 of an inch from the stock of the gun. I just believe a harder polymer would have been better. Perhaps I put too much force on the cheek piece, but still... Stock's neat. Cheek piece is pretty cool but kinda flimsy. Overall a decent and much cheaper route compared to the Magpul PRS and other comprable stocks. |

I was not contacted by CAA, or anyone for that matter; rather, I felt more information was required so you users may make your own decision based on what you see. It seems my breif statement earlier was considered by some and so doing created alack of interest in both these products. For this reason, I want you to actually see what is happening rather than just take my word for it. (More fact than opinion now) The issue: The polymer used in the stock and ACP build is too soft to support much foce, especially when the force is torque. What this means is the small polymer piece holding the cheek pad must support all forces on the pad, even ones that are offset (95% of the pad) which make it flex. The offset forces are thereby multiplied by the distance in some way (forgot all my physics allready). video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1553616040875777271&hl=en This is a side view of how the CAA Cheek Piece bends without much force. I believe the polymer in, at least the connection, is far too weak. Mind you, the force is not too much as the AR15 is leaned up against the lid of my laptop. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1565450626528489295&hl=en This is the rear view showing what happens when your cheek puts some force on the CPS. You can see the support flexes with the force allowing more give than support. The stock is wonderful. The only issue I've found so far is the fact that the C123's in the stock are not held firmly and, therefore, rattle. Luckily I work at a spring manufacturer so I was able to get 4 perfectly sized springs. I do blieve this to be a nice alternative to the 6-Position Tactical stock, but this won't do much for addtional shooting support. The ACP is not a failure, mind you. While it is not exceptional, I have learned to become comfortable with it as my scope is very low on the rifle meaning I can have the ACP on its lowest level (minimal flexing) and still be able to see allright. And, to be very honest, it does look pretty bad-ass, if you're into that kinda thing. I just wanted to clarify a bit to let people draw their own conclusions rather than use mine. Cheers. |
