Hey guys. Finally got my A1 done. It has the old 2 piece, 6 hole handguard. I'm interested in adding an angle grip as this seems more of a natural hold. I have found some rail strips that can be screwed into a standard style handguard, but a lot of these rails I'm finding all say made for Magpull MOE. Is there a way to do this utilizing the old school, original 6 hole handguard?

Other than duct tape, hose clamps or zip ties, not that I am aware of.

Haha, was just about to link my picture.

@ OP

Here's the post I followed to do my authentic Vietnam carbine fore-grip.

Seems it was a common field addition in Vietnam.

I pretty much followed the how to guide in the link above, only I drilled the grip screw hole for a 5/16"-18 screw and used a T-Nut ...

...from the hardware store inside the forward vent hole (flange on the inside ) and added a regular hex nut on top for extra support. I didn't like the washer method.

Try the grip in both directions. I mounted mine "backwards" it really fits the hand better.)
