I've decided to make up a set of M1956 web gear to go with my retro guns.

A couple of items, like my pistol magazine pouch were new old stock, but have extensive verdigris coming through the black on the snaps.

I've got the green removed, what's a good way to turn them back black?  I could resort to paint, but it seems too fragile.
