This is a CH marked (no proofs) C7 upper and 6933 barrel marked C MP CB

Obviously this not a factory upper but if I wanted to take this and make it as close to a factory 733 (think the movie heat) and wanted to also make as earlier as factory copy as possible then what would be the most appropriate:

Lower receiver configuration?

Lower receiver markings?

Lower/upper receiver color?

Bolt Carrier group type?

Buffer tube (color and positions)?

With or without bayo lug?

Many thanks

The upper, just have the bayonet lug ground off and you are done.

For the lower, it will vary.

I used a early 90s Colt 6520 lower with staked 2 position buffer tube on mine. It had all the correct grey colored parts.

An original ful auto would have been an A2 lower, marked "M-16A2", greyish in color, 2 position tube with N stock.

Some also used A1 lowers, but the later (Heat carbines) used A2s.

That is what I was thinking. I have  N1 stock/2 position tube set and an 80% A2 lower I think I will send to Braceman to engrave for me.

Truly KISS carbine

Thanks for feedback

^^^^ this pretty much sums it. Colt m16a2 commercial roll marks, grey with 2 pos. tube (got mine from Nodak), N1. Don't forget the old school CAR locking ring for the receiver extension. Far as I know Specialized Armament has a few still @ 45$ a piece for the real deal Colt pieces. Or the member HKILLER here makes old castle nuts into the old style lock rings, I have one from him and its a damn good repro.

Been a year or two since I ordered, but Brownells had some old style rings as well.

I pretty much have it all but the retro lower.

I stuck this on a SBR lower I have and man it just feels right.

Why is it not a factory upper ? I have one identical to it on a Colt 733 shipped from Colt .ca. 1995/96. Just curious. And you are so right about it on an SBR (or on a select fire lower). It's my favorite set up.

The 933 barrel probably has an "F" marked front sight base, while an original 733 barrel would not.

I'll have to look at my 733 next to my 6933 upper. See what the differences are in the barrel.

That is correct about the FSB.

The one in my picture has a non-F marked.

I had replaced it out with an M16A1 FSB

BTW the happy hole in a M16 has just gotten way to rich for my taste.

BTW would the 733 in the movie Heat be expected to have a 4 position  buffer tube or an earlier 2 position?
