So basically I'm putting together a Frankengun. The lower is an Anderson lower receiver. Its gonna have a basic LPK. I  looking for an A1 upper to top it off. Question I have is will an A1 upper fit with the Anderson lower? I know that there's a difference in pin sizes but not quite sure if they'll mate up? Would it be easier to just get an A2 upper? I mean either will work for the build, fixed carry handle.

I used an Anderson lower on my 604 slickside build.  As you can see, it worked fine....  I used a black Fulton 604 upper, but if you use a grey Colt upper, you can use Rustoleum Grey automotive primer on the lower, and it matches Colt Grey but a little darker than early XM grey.

The semi auto AR's Colt made up through the later 80's had a large front pivot pin, but you can buy cheap adapters to mate them to standard lowers.

In short...buy whatever upper you want and if it ends up being the large pivot pin type, just buy an adapter. They're like $6.

There's no difference in pin size, except with an SP-1 upper or a very early pre-A1 upper (601).  You should have no problems using an Anderson lower.  Just remember to post pics when you get it done!

I'm also using two Anderson lowers and four Palmetto State lowers. You are good to go with them. If you find a large pin hole upper just get the adapter that was mentioned above.

Have fun with the build! Buy two uppers....maybe five....trust me the Black Rifle Disease cannot be contained.

601's and 602's use standard 0.250" diameter pins, the front pin is non-captured, as the lower did not yet have the ridge ("partial fence") to drill a hole for a spring and detent
