Did they use c7 uppers with colt chrome bore 1/12 20" barrels?

IIRC, Canadians started using them with Government profile A2 barrels.  I believe the only USGI C7 type uppers were on early M4s (Model 733s).  Colt used them on early Sporter IIs, but I think they all had 1/7 twist Government Profile A2 barrels.

As originally produced, No.

However the C7 type upper was prevalent in the system as a repair part from the early to late 90's. As such it was used during rebuilds at Anniston or, in the field. Therefore you can encounter a C7 upper with any variation of barrel.

Yes, as technically the C7 uppers are A2 uppers, just with "field sights". The Brunton Bump was part of the A2 upgrade.

Awesome. I bought several of the DPMS A1E1 / C7 uppers when CDNN has their last sale.

Trying not to hijack thread but as an aircraft mechanic I only got to qualify once a year.

Would tear drop assists be OK.

I think those had the large round forward assists.

As stated a large head forward assist would be more appropriate, either cut or uncut depending on which lower (A2 or A1) you are using.

I would say the tear drop or improved small head forward assist would also fly due to the C7 uppers replacing A1 uppers (and small parts being swapped over) or staying in service late enough to have a small head replacement added.

One 2 more questions.

Been searching GB for a cut/shaved assist no joy. Any idea where to get one.

And

Would it be advantageous to use a A2 aperture, especially with a carbine build?
Thanks

Keep an eye on the EE here, they pop up time to time. I believe Dennis Todd has some, give him a shout http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_7_159/1514679_NOS_Colt_retro_for_sale.html

A2 aperture is user preference. I like the larger aperture for close range over the two small apertures of the A1 sights.

I love the flat slip rings and a1 grips too much.
