Most of the DOE clone builds seem to find their way here even though they are an early 80's era weapon, I'm guessing it's just due to the A1 uppers. Anyways.... I'm not sure if any Optics were ever featured on the DOE 9mm but what would be period correct options? I've had a hard time finding true photos of them as most goggle searches turns up clone reproductions. Yes it sucks getting old when you can't focus the iron sights on a target. |

I have a Ultradot in a carry handle mount with nondescript rings.
I bought the Ultradot from Action Arms (importer of the UZI ) in the mid 80's The same black 1" model they still sell.. It is period correct, and works well with it. HOWEVER, it looks way better without it.

I've built a couple of variants, and have yet to see any original images of any DOE variant with optics installed.
That said, some of the early Aimpoints would be of the proper time period (Aimpoint Electronic, Mark III, 1000) Older OEGs and Colt scopes are usable, but probably not appropriate for the DOE's original use. If you're ok with thinking the DOE was being used into the early 90's you can get into a lot more stuff, early Trijicons, later Aimpoints, C-Mores, even Eotechs. I often use a Trijicon Reflex on mine, which is roughly mid 90's vintage, so not appropriate to the original, but is a good sight for such a short gun. |

I have one of the ring sights laying around here in case I ever want to do one as I figure it would make sense, is simple, kind of effective and small.
