Earlier this month my NDS-604 upper arrived. The barrel came off my M16A1 that I had recently installed a new GM chrome lined chamber and bore barrel. The BCG is a chrome slick side no FA serrations from Fulton Armory. This BCG was tight! Lower is a NDS-XM16E1 that I found late last year like new. Colt LPK. Type D stock, M16 pistol grip and standard triangle hand guards. 3 prong flash hider. Pretty simple set up.

Took it to the range Sunday morning and was very disappointed. I tried to sight in using a 25 meter M16A1 sight target and M193 Privi Partizan ammo. Multiple failures to feed and eject. Finally after about 60rds it started to function properly but I was about out of ammo. Called it a day. Took rifle home and cleaned it. Went back out Monday with multiple 30rd and 20rd USGI magazines fully loaded (200 plus rounds) and IMI M193 ammo. Had rifle sighted in on 3rd dope adjustment using 3 shot grouping. Then shot about 90 rounds into IPSC target at 100yds (need to go 1-2 clicks left). And the rest of ammo was into backstop berm to get rifle loosened up and BCG. Just a heads up that I've never had ammo problems using Privi Partizan M193 in the past. Or, a problem with my other Fulton Armory chrome slick side BCG in my NDS-604 upper/lower Model 605. This new BCG was just tight!  No other words to describe it. And the great news that I did NOT have any malfunctions on day 2 with over 200rds. It was a good day! I give this rifle a big thumbs up. Looking forward to shooting it soon. Maybe take it's little brother the 605 with it.

Very nice job.  Real cool build.  Slicks are my favorites and yours is real pretty.  Mine have service use on them. Glad you got it sorted.  Happy hunting!

A lot o the  time a snug BCG will actually shoot better / more accurate than a loose one.  Some of my early 01-02 BCG's actually are pretty snug vs parked Colts and they will generally shoot a little better just swapping out the carrier.  Young's are generally a little snug too.  I had one Fulton CMP and it wasn't all that and quickly went to a new home.

I've only tried some of the cheap BCG's in builds for others within a micro budget.  Advanced Ordnance is about as low as I will go on my stuff but still a parked USGI.  I've bought the AIM and a couple others for micro budget builds but by the time I re-staked and worked it in with some synthetic I had more time in it than it was worth for savings IMO and they were serrated.

Probably prefer the Young in a slick but this is retroland.  I've never bothered to measure a carrier but might for chuckles.

I've had some Privi that was all right.  Probably middle of the road.  Brass is also middle of the road IMO.  I really haven't been all that impressed with any ammo I've purchased with a 13 or newer headstamp that didn't cost $1 per round.  Never had any that wouldn't fire or cycle though.  Seems like QC has dwindled a bit.  Could be the production numbers are up so high to keep up with demand that a little something has been lost.

Could easily be those on super sale lots I bought also.  One usually gets what they pay for.

I appreciate it guys. I find enjoyment building retro rifles even if I do clone them at times. I build these rifles to shoot, not powder puff safe queens. Cdenmark, I have a Young's Manufacturing chrome BCG in my XM16E1 and its a winner. The Fulton Armory chrome slick side BCG's have performed well also. It's just this one needed a little more breaking in. And I can't say enough positive remarks concerning NoDak Spud products. This is my 8th retro built in 14 months. Going to take a break from building, but look out down range since lots of M193 is heading that way! Future range reports to follow.

Quality control on Prvi is iffy sometimes.  IMI, however, is top notch!  I'd say you have it dialed in.  Nice job on the rifle, BTW!

Thank you. The Privi I'm using is dated 2005. I purchased a substantial amount in 06 or 07? Came in a white 20rd box marked Wolf Ammunition, but it is Privi. And also in 200rd clear plastic battle packs. There is better ammo out their, but it's always went bang, grouped ok, and functioned well in all my retro rifles. Just this one time in brand new rifle it didn't. I agree though that IMI is top notch.
