Ian over at Forgotten Weapons has a short story on this experiment:

If you're not checking on Ian's blog regularly, you're missing some interesting stuff.

I think they laid an M1 on an AR10 mag for the pictures. I don't think that was a conversion.

Don't know if this is the actual rifle but years ago I was invited by Kick Koster (RIP) to see his collection.
He had a Garand with this conversion.
The magwell was cut out and had an inlay of brass plates to accomodate the AR10 mag.
The barrel was replaced for the .308 round.
According to Kick this was done at the Artillerie Inrichtingen.

I have also seen a similar rifle in the Netherlands that was converted or built by AI to use waffles.

hi Hhollow.
If the rifle you have seen was at Erik, then probably it was the same rifle.
He took over Kick's collection.

Any idea the disposition of Kick's collection?
(Including the Florida Marine Corps 'M16A2' license plate  I gave him)

If by disposition you mean the availlabilaty to see the collection I would have to say no.
Dutch collectors are usualy not inviting people to see there collection.
